I 100% agree on the blight and conditions of housing in/around my area --- as I even have "slumlords" who refuse to cleanup and/or do ANYTHING to improve the appearance of the house/neighborhood. Is anything being done and/or going to be done to enforce people to clean up and pick up after themselves? If I was a homeowner - just as my Mom/Dad are in Bridgeport - their yard is impeccable but neighboring yards (college kids) tend to try and ruin their efforts. Is there any blight laws on the books that I can refer to and/or use to report future issues? Such as Bridgeport has as a law.

I certainly would like to see this area cleaned up more --- and I don't care about State/HUD rentals as that is NO excuse to keep a messy yard or home.

there are anti blight ordinances on the books currently some examples are garbage cans supposed to be out of sight only one unregistered vehicle on property yard to be picked up no boarded windows stuff like that if you go to city of ansonia web sight look under city charter/city ordinances i dont live far from no state st and i have the sam eproblem the city has a full time zoneing/blight officer but i dont see where he does the greatest job but maybe there are things involved we dont no about i do no lots of th eproblems ar absentee landlords and no enforcement to them from the city i have been complaining seems like forever the only help i do get is from the mayor he usualy address's issue pretty timely but i find the problem to be there is absolutely no follow up from who ever the problem has to do with i also find email is the best way(at least for me) to communicate with the mayor email is on city web sight.. if we all stick together maybe we can get some things changed i see no reason for so many of the issues that exsist to be a problem garbage seems to be a pretty high issue people just throw whatever when ever out to the curb or pile on the porch very visible from street and nothing is done till i call or someone else calls but if that what it takes then for now we need to do it i for one am tired of being embarrased to have company just because someone is to lazy to clean up their yard.

Interesting side topic built off of Mr Palumbo’s original request which strictly called for street surface clean-up only. Can’t we just concentrate on the issue? I do feel for all who live within the town though. I volunteer my time at the local firehouse at the corner of N. State, E. Main & N. Main and just looking out the front door of our post I can tell the local facial reactions vs the out of town facial reactions by drivers when they peer at the factory mess all the way up East and North Main streets. Locals seem to be used to it and the visitors pretty much move their heads back and forth horizontally. It is obvious they need to escape what most are calling blight as they use Main Street as a short cut and not a shopping or living center. Most will say the factory type blight from the old-days hurts the city’s image and future big-time. True, I also must go to my relatives house out of Ansonia instead of them coming to Ansonia. They made that clear to me.

Well it's got to be strength in numbers then... Let's keep this issue alive... I'll create another... As just like me... I'm embarrassed to have company... Not only because of my own yard and landlord not keeping up... But others need to do their part. The factories are one thing... As some are still in partial operation... But there is a limit... And to the blight officer... SHAME ON YOU AND SHAME ON ANSONIA for not enforcing these laws!!! As a taxpayer... This is not right and if it's just me anyway... My voice wil be heard!

Located this Site off a simple Google search typing in my own home town ANSONIA, Ct today.
Not exactly what I wanted to hear or read though when there appears to be many search hits with various public comments about large blight structures (Factories?) in the center of my own home town. I think your refering to the Old former Farrel and Brass properties.
The only solution I am aware of to fix that mess down there is an aggresssive "Brownsfield Application" process through the state of CT for some face lift improvements. I thought one of our State representatives was monitoring that mess already?

Still debris on side of road an drain is STILL clogged - this is NOT acceptable!
I don't care where the neighborhood is and/or who/what is around it -- I am a tax paying citizen and I should NOT have to go out and clean the streets!
