I don't understand why this has been so hush hush. Y'all have something to hide? I think all Hartville residents should know that raw sewage has been leaking in Snake Branch that runs into Black Creek since sometime Friday! Now 5 days later there is still sewage running in the Branch. It was reported to the City on Saturday and someone came out to access the situation and told us that he was gonna be honest and that nothing would be done until Monday. The smell was so unbearable you couldn't sit outside much less want to be outside! Nothing has been reported to any of the homeowners in this area and when you go up there to ask what they are doing about it, they tell you it is being fixed as we speak......not true! Im sorry but this should have been considered an emergency and actions should have started then! Totally unacceptable! I pray that none of my family or my pets get sick from this but if they do you better believe that you will be paying the bill for their or my treatment! Below is what raw sewage does, not that y'all have showed any concerns!

Raw sewage is wastewater that has not been treated. It comes from residential properties, like houses and apartments, as well as commercial buildings and industrial and agricultural processes. Raw sewage typically contains viruses and bacteria as well as health-harming microorganisms. For example, this type of waste is known to contain E.coli and hepatitis A; cholera is another well-known pathogen in raw sewage.

The sometimes-fatal Weil's disease is another common problem, which causes symptoms that resemble the flu and can lead to liver and kidney damage. Occupational asthma, caused by inhaling certain organisms, is another risk of exposure. Even the skin and eyes are not immune, as infection can develop here as well.

Most people who have adequate, modern plumbing are not at very high risk for coming into contact with dirty wastewater unless there is a malfunction, leak, or overflow of normally reliable sewage systems. However, there are some occupations that make exposure possible or even likely. For example, people who are charged with inspecting, maintaining, or repairing sewers may be exposed to it. Employees of water companies, some agricultural workers, sludge tank drivers, and those charged with maintaining aircraft sewage compartments also risk exposure. Of course, plumbers are exposed to raw sewage frequently, sometimes on a daily basis.
