This has now evolved into a parking lot with a minimum of 2 cars parked on the street & one or two parked in the yard. There is also an old car in the driveway that they have been "restoring" and previously kept in the garage but has now been parked outside for a good while. Everyone in this neighborhood keeps their property as prescribed in the subdivision's guidelines. This has gone on too long & enlarged!!!

I called codes regarding this the first of the year. The lot has NOT been cleaned, there is an old green car sitting in the drive along with multiple others parked on the street and in the yard. HELP!!

Codes received a request for inspection December 4, 2017 - RFS# 17-1171830. On December 13, 2017 the inspection was made and the owner was issued an Abate notice to repair/remove any vehicles from the property - cease parking in the grass and to remove all open storage of junk, trash and debris from the premises. The owner had until January 15, 2018 to bring the property into compliance. If there has been no progress made - Codes will request a civil warrant an prosecute in court.

Please be advised that the street is a public right of way and any vehicle may park in the street as long as the vehicle is operable. If you contact the Property Standards Division at 615-862-6590 in a few days the secretary will be able to provide you with an update on this property.

UPDATE: A civil warrant has been issued to the owner of the property and once the warrant is served and a court date set - the owner will be prosecuted in court.

It is now March 2, 2018 & nothing has been done!!

Ms. Smith, unfortunately the civil warrant we requested has not been served to this property owner. &Until the owner is served by the Metro Sherriff's Department Warrant Officer - there is no further action we can initiate at this time. The Warrant was requested and issued on January 29, 2018. May times it may takes weeks for the Warrant Officer to serve the property owner. This case is still pending and will not be closed until the owner is in compliance.

Thanks for the update. I hope this will be resolved soon, the trash in the bushes in the back of their house, the old car and the other mess is NOT what this neighborhood is about!!

I understand Ms. Smith - but when property owners do not comply with our notices - prosecuting in court is our only option.

I understand and thank you for attempting to get this problem solved. I just don't want my neighborhood to become a junky place and I really do not appreciate these folks junking it up as it destroys my enjoyment of sitting on my deck when nice weather is here.

No further comment needed, NOTHING is going to be done!!!! We live in Metro, pay taxes in Metro, Shop in Metro but are treated like red-headed orphan stepchildren as we do not live within the city limits, Thanks for nothing!!!

Ms. Smith - the violation that someone reported in July 2018 was for a vehicle parking in the grass...we issued notice and upon our reinspection August 24, 2018 there were no vehicles parked in the yard area and the case was closed.

Prior to that case there was another case that was submitted December 2017 for the following code violations: Junk, trash, and debris; inoperable/unlicensed vehicles. I stayed in contact with you and advised that we had to see court action - which we did. The owner appeared in court on Match 7, 2018 and he had corrected all code violations and the Judge dismissed that case with the owner being responsible for all court costs and fines.

If this property is again in violation - then Codes & Building Safety has not been notified. You have not called our office or submitted another request for inspection since 2018. So if you would like to submit a request - please do and let me know what the violations are.

The upper slope of the back yard is overgrown. We have found shed snake skins in our landscaping cover for the past several springs. There is a ground hog den in there as we have seen the animal & he/she has run back into the under brush in this back yard area. There are old rotting basketballs, a white plastic bucket, plastic bags, etc. caught in the bushes in this area, IF anything can be done I would very much appreciate it as I do not know of any other back area in this subdivision that has a back yard like this.

A request has been submitted for the code violation you provided. The RFS# is 19-1201570. As mentioned in the past you can call the Codes Property Standards Division at anytime to report a code violation as well as to gain the status of a complaint. The number is 615-862-6590.

Karene, Thank you so much for your help. I must apologize for my sarcastic remarks in our last communication. I am so frustrated with this situation it just aggravates me that we live in such a nice neighborhood and these folks are not taking care of their property as the rest of the community does.

No apology necessary....and when we issue notice we do not close a case out until it is in full compliance. And if we have to prosecute in court - we do.

FYI...Codes will be making our reinspection for compliance on May 28, 2019. The owner was cited for vegetation in the rear - but the front and side yards had been cut. We did not find any Mustang parked in the driveway - we did see an antique vehicle but it was operable - nor did we see any vehicle that was jacked up on the property. We did see some junk and debris which the owner was cited for.

Thank you again Karene, I do appreciate your keeping me informed as to the progress on this problem. I hope it is rectified soon and no courts are involved as that costs time & money.

We can only hope - but this case will not be closed until it is brought into compliance.

I have seen nothing being done to the overgrown area. He does have a service mowing now, but the ground hogs, snakes, etc. are still being observed.

Judy - this is still an open and active case. We issued notice - the owner failed to comply so we requested a civil warrant to prosecute in court. Currently we have a court date set for August 28, 2019.

Thank you so much for continuing to follow this problem. They have managed to grow a HUGE groundhog in this mess plus the little ones are not so little either.

You will need to contact Vector Control with Metro Health Department. We now have court set to prosecute this owner on September 18, 2019.

Hi Karene, Well, so far nothing has been done with the overgrown lot next door. I trust they showed up for their court date on 9/18. It is of little importance at this point as my husband has been diagnosed with colon CA and we are going to downsize to a smaller home. Hopefully a condo in the Hendersonville area(if we can afford it). I will let the new owners take on this challenge. It has not been pleasant.

Good morning....the court case was dismissed as the Courts determined this vacant land is considered to be a natural habitat area. Since is considered to be this - the Bank will not be responsible for maintain the lot.

Karene, There is a home on this lot. It was built about 5-8 years ago. The family name is DeBoard. I think his name is Ken. I don't know where you got your information, but it is erroneous. The address is 2042 Graceland Drive. IT IS FAR FROM VACANT!!!!!!!

My apologizes - I was referring to the actual lady where there is the growth of high grass. bushes and trees - I didn't mean it being a vacant lot. But the grass has been cut and the other areas is considered to be a natural habitat. But the property is in compliance.
