Description

DC needs to install left turn signals at numerous intersections near the White House. With several blocks completely shut off for White House purposes, that leaves very few ways to get around that area. The corner of I Street is always backed up between 15th and 17th because of pedestrians crossing and no way for cats to turn left without a green left arrow. (It's also because the rush hour lanes on I Street are not enforced but I digress). The corner of 17th and Constitution is the same. Cars traveling southbound have no leading green arrow to guide them - and two lanes of northbound traffic - so only one or two cars can get through per light cycle. Considering 17th is one lane lost f the day, it just creates major congestion when it could be eliminated with a green arrow light for left turns. DC DOT need to do something about the traffic around the White House. It has gone from bad to worse to absolutely horrible and there are near accidents (with cars AND pedestrians) every day. Please help!!
