While I was sitting here reporting this, I witnessed cyclists having to get into traffic while there were cars coming. We need better cycling infrastructure if we want to have a city that is not reliant on cars.
There is NO bike lane on Discovery Boulevard. The "white stripe" is used as a traffic calming device. It is meant to slow down traffic as there is a 30 mph speed limit. The same design is on Main Street.
even if this is not a true designated bike lane, it is best practice to park in the alley for safe transportation of all vehicle types - whether they be motorists or cyclists. we should also all be cognizant of shared infrastructure and safety for all.
Installing a bike lane on Discovery and Main Street will remove the ability of taxpaying homeowners from parking in front of their homes. Be aware that there is no parking allowed in alleys.
Who are you to decide what is "best practice" for the homeowners on Discovery Boulevard and Main Street?

Thanks to CPPD for confirming there was no parking violation. The white lines on the sides of Discovery and also Main were painted many years ago to slow down cars cutting through from New Hope to Whitestone (I e. traffic calming). The lines don't designate bike lanes. There are no bike lanes anywhere in the residential portion of Town Center. Concern for the safety of bicyclists is legitimate, but the situation in Town Center is no different than in most of the other residential neighborhoods in Cedar Park, which also have no bike lanes. And, like the other neighborhoods in Cedar Park, the streets in Town Center are public streets, and parking is allowed on a public street unless there is a no parking sign or a red curb. However, the alleys in Town Center are NOT public streets, and parking in the alleys is strictly prohibited per both City ordinance and HOA restrictions.
