Description
Overbrook Dr in the Colwick section of Cherry Hill looks like the roads leading into Baghdad; a complete disaster area where many roadside bombs went off! The temporary fixes that you've been repairing them with for years aren't the answer, repave it with some of the high taxes you charge us with and do it right before someone gets killed...

Mayor Platt,
I just set-up a watch area for you in Cherry Hill Mall.
It looks like you were only being made aware of issues in the other townships.
If you want to send us a list of the townships you were receiving alerts from: team@seeclickfix.com

I too live in Colwick and am sick of the condition of Overbrook Drive. There are so many potholes now that we can no longer avoid them. There is no driving around the holes when they cover the width of the entire street. Stones kick up everywhere and ricochet off bottoms of our cars leaving damage in their wake. And heaven help the people who dare to walk down the road while a car is driving by - you will absolutely get hit with flying stones. It's disgusting that we could pay such amazingly high taxes and have roads in this condition in our very own neighborhood.
Mayor Platt, we implore you to fix this problem. Thank you.

Mayor Platt,
Please hear our concern for Overbrook & Media Roads in Colwick. The unavoidable potholes are a disgrace and a hazard to the many walkers, joggers and children on bikes who use these main neighborhood roads all seasons of the year. The stone-fill only serves as a temporary band aid and it sounds like a hail storm when your vehicle drives over them. Make the wise investment to fix them right the first time instead of wasting the time of our public works crew again and again throwing more stones in ever-growing pot holes.
Its a terrible first impression of one of Cherry Hill's oldest and finest neighborhoods!

I have lived here for over 30 years. I have called the city street office the past 4 or 5 years to have Media
Rd repaired. We see the city come a put stones with tar in the holes which are gone in a week. These stones get carried onto my driveway only to ruin it.
My driveway is at the foot of the holes on Media.
MR MAYOR IT IS TIME TO FIX OVERBROOK DR AND MEDIA
We had hoped you would show up at our Halloween parade, as you have in other years, but there was no election this year so you didn't need to come for votes. I bet your street is perfect and your neighborhood as well. Come on Mr Mayor. You have our outrageous taxes. Now take care of us

I have to say I am sympathetic to budgets and understand times are tough, but our beautiful neighborhood is disgraced by its streets. It is to the point where it can damage cars and the loose fill that gets used creates even more of a mess. I have not been to every residential street in Cherry Hill, but I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that there are none worse than Overbrook and Media.
For some reason, half of the streets were repaved a few years back and are beautiful. Now its time to finish the job. Please stop ignoring the neighborhood aside from the years you need votes.

A POOR entrance to such a nice area, COLWICK.
Let's see our High Tax dollars work.

Mr Mayor,
please take a ride over or have the Director of Public Works come and look at the two roads mentioned here. I live in Colwick and the condition of these two roads is getting worse every day. We're not talking about one or two small potholes, we're talking about literally dozens and dozens. These two roads which are very heavily traveled have gotten so bad I actually avoid them and take a longer route to get in and out of Colwick.
Thank you for your anticipated attention to this matter.

Mr. Mayor,
Patch upon patch just doesn't work anymore!
it's time to repave this section and a similar section located on Media Rd. I'm sure the cost of resurfacing is much cheaper than a potential lawsuit as the result of an accident due to the extremely poor road conditions!

In a community that takes such pride in their landscaping blemished roads such as this, "Media Road", make you wonder! In this pic you can see the previous patches & roadside gravel & stones that are left behind, that's why they need to be done right & repaved, not patched. If we are late paying our taxes we'd be penalized; the township should be held responsible for this mess & be penalized or held accountable also...

I ride my bike almost every morning at 6:30 AM. I go west
on Media and turn left on Overbrook. There is only a small path in two sections of Media that I am able to ride without hitting pot holes and that is on the wrong side of the road.
It is very dangerous to ride on the streets in the neighborhood either due to pot holes or depressions. The depressions are where asphalt has been used to patch where the utility companies have dug and not repaired the road properly.
In October my wife contacted the Cherry Hill Township and asked when would the roads be re-surfaced. She was told her the schedule was:
Overbrook 2011
Lenape 2014
Media 2017
Cherry Hill re-surfaced four blocks of Media a couple of
years ago. Not only re-surfaced but replaced the curbs
sidewalks and planted new trees at no cost to any homeowner.
Now the rest of Colwick needs a facelift, and we can't even get the roads fixed.

Mr Mayor,
As a resident of the Colwick neighborhood, I am concerned that the poor road conditions on the primary entrance, Overbrook Rd, is diminishing the charm and quality of the neighborhood. As an older neighborhood, it needs immediate city services to maintain a community with a quality of living living on par with the newer neighborhoods. I appreciate the town's challenge to fund competing priorities and so recommend that the neighborhood's streets be reassessed which most likely will support an accelerated repair schedule beginning with the repair of Overbrook Rd. for early this year. I am most appreciative of the past good road repair on Media Rd. 2008, but the current "patch as you go" is not keeping pace with the roads rate of deterioration. Thank you for supporting our neighborhood in maintaining its quality of living.
Respectfully Submitted,
Reinhard Zapfe

As residents of Colwick, we are appalled to see the neglect of the roads in our community. My children can't ride their bikes on the sidewalk because most of them are so bad, but now our streets are bad...You tell me where our children can ride their bikes and get some exercise. We are paying high taxes lets but our money to work in our own neighborhood, not just yours.

This issue is NOT going to go away! As long as any Colwick resident feels that all you are doing is sweeping this under the rug and it will be forgotten because of your temporary patches; you're wrong. The issue here at hand is not the temporary fix of several potholes, it's the condition of the roads in Colwick overall. We are a very strong community that believe that we are being shortchanged by a township that charges us highly for the privilege of even living here! It's a disgrace to look out the front windows & believe what's out there! These streets in this neighborhood are a DISGRACE!!! For you to even have the nerve to send your street crew out & slap us in the face again with this tar & stone method of repair is an insult to ALL of us. To think that you would consider fixing Media Rd in 2017 is a disaster in itself! These are main arteries in & out of our community & they look like HELL!
You make sure that you include little innuendos in our tax statements that suggest that these taxes aren't final & may be going up in the 2nd half of the year; whatta joke! We're NOT getting what we deserve & pay for now & you're thinking about raising them!!! Social Security froze our incomes this year because of the recession & yet you are considering a raise in taxes! Where's that money supposed to come from; robbing banks?
I've been here for 40 years & I can't remember the last time that the streets of Colwick looked 1/2 way descent! According to 1 comment on this dispute, you don't intend to repave Media Rd until 2017; are you CRAZY! This is a disaster area NOW! If you think that we as a community will put up with this for another 7 years. you're NUTS! If we were to let our grass grow over a certain height & blight our neighborhood, you'll send someone out to present us with a citation to improve conditions or face a fine or penalty imposed by the township for not living up to their standards, but you are allowed to let our streets go to hell & no one is at fault! This must be some sort of a joke on your behalf!
There are a lot of senior citizens in Colwick that have been here for many years & we all have the right to vote; think about that... Many will probably be in nursing homes by 2017 but we still have a voice in our community now...
