If you drive by the Ansonia Opera House (Crave area) there are now signs in the windows of the building which I BELIEVE say "Coming Soon Ansonia 100".
I hope I got the "100" right, I am normally driving when I spot these and can't really stop with causing an accident.
In any event, it is clear from the several signs in the windows and a drawing displayed that there is some plan to remodel/restore the entire block of buildings from Crave to the Ansonia Housing Authority. That seems to be what this display is announcing and it went up a few weeks ago.
I can't find a single word about this online or on the City's web site. Current money received for demolition, etc. by the city dos not mention this block of buildings. One would think such a project would get some media coverage but it's not even mentioned by the Valley Indy.
I did my best to show a photo but you can't get it all in one. This would be the restoration of SEVEN large buildings along Main Street. Certainly a project that would easily cost millions if done properly.
Anyone had any idea why they are promoting this with window signs but no further info?

Well, this is what I get for looking online at the end of last week and not posting this question until yesterday. I see the story was posted on Sunday, in between.
I need to back and see where I got "100" from. I am pleased to hear someone is planning to renovate these buildings that truly need it. Of course, the story is about the renovation of ONE building yet when you read the story you see this developer has purchased several of them, which would explain why the rendering in the window seems to show most of the block being included.
I will say that while well intentioned, it does not shine a favorable light on the developer to read "Nocerino hasn’t returned a Valley Indy phone call in years, including a message left Tuesday."
If this gentlemen plans to make friends in the Valley as he develops properties, he may want to start returning calls from the media that wishes to write about his efforts and help him promote them.
That said, I wish him luck finding tenants. There are ALOT of store fronts to fill in that block and (as was pointed out to him in the meeting per the minutes) his idea of "affordable housing" is not the rents of $900-1,200 a month he plans on for the apartments. That is indeed market rate and a touch high for the location.
May be fill all his apartments and all his storefronts and vastly improve that part of Main Street!
