Thank you for contacting Howard County Department of Public Works Highways Division. Our inspectors complete field investigation at St. James Rd and writing to provide you with the results.
Roadway inventory and inspection was done on St. James Rd on December 2021. The inspection result indicated that the overall pavement condition of this road was rated as “Satisfactory” with Pavement Condition Index (PCI) ranges from 71 – 89. PCI is a numerical rating of the pavement condition based on the type and severity of distresses observed on the pavement surface. The PCI value range between 0 and 100, where 0 is the worst possible condition and 100 is the best possible condition. Our filed inspectors also evaluated the roadway in the past few weeks and concur with our record on the overall condition of the roadway. They also noticed your concerns of roadside edge failures along some sections of St. James Rd. We will forward your concern to our maintenance shop to monitor the condition and apply some patch work as needed. The overall condition of this roadway doesn’t qualify it to be on our resurfacing list for this year, however, we will pay close attention to the condition of this roadway for future resurfacing project.
Thank you again for sharing your concerns. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.
