There are no limits in Ansonia. The poor town is plagued with industrial blight, HUD commitment monitoring, a disorganized & un-uniformed town center coupled with disorganization that threatens my pension fund through its lack of consistent funding. I hope the Ansonia Tax paying residents can buffer my checks if in fact they default. The easy part was moving from Ansonia the hard part is watching my home town decay from a long distance.

This is still an issue. Speeding is still the norm on Hill Street.

Speeding enforcement is done at the whim of the chief of police and the mayor. Other factors like funding are another issue. Like most other places in the valley, the amount of accidents or people getting injured or killed usually takes precedent.

"Speed limit strictly enforced" on speed limit signs is always laughable. I have never once seen some level of increased police presence near such signs. That sign gets thrown up when residents demand one thinking it does something.

I know this will unpopular and I'll have to drive Hill Street but I suggest anyone complaining to ACTUALLY drive a car at 25 MPH on ANY street. You will feel as if you could walk faster and really anger any cars behind you.

No I don't believe in speeding. I also don't believe 25 is a reasonable speed to expect people to operate a motor vehicle so like most laws people roll their eyes at.. it's ignored.

Now do some tests of what is REASONABLE AND SAFE speed for people to be driving on Hill Street and still react if a car pulls out, a pedestrian enters the road and post THAT speed as the speed limit. It will be at least 35 and I bet it's obeyed far more often because it makes sense.

But as the problem has never been resolved maybe someone should open it back up ? But just what municipality has resolved their speeding issue ? SPEED KILLS ..Traffic calming measures have proven effective when implemented. .What I've seen is one day a driver speeds , gets away with it ,beats a red light the next day , gets away with it , Feels no one cares and then speeds a little faster the next day,.Finally an accident ensues then *voila* police presence and every fire engine and emergency truck the city has is present - always hoping no one got hurt , rarely happens but it does ..And all it would take to prevent this was a little ole speeding ticket
