Would East Point's leaders please update residents on which specific PPG manufacturing process has resulted in these strong odors over the past few days? It's past time for this particular manufacturing process, whatever it may be, to be moved offsite.
PPG is a publicly traded company whose defined purpose is to "protect and beautify the world." In the 3rd quarter of this year, the company had "record third quarter net sales of nearly $4.4 BILLION, about 19% higher than the prior year." https://investor.ppg.com/financial-info/quarterly-results/default.aspx
PPG can afford to move this manufacturing process offsite.
It is not right for East Point residents to suffer health problems listed in various See Click Fix reports over the past 24 hours, including an inability to breathe, difficulty breathing, watery eyes, a burning throat and an uncontrollable cough, so that this company can make exorbitant profits.
East Point leaders, please:
1) Demand this manufacturing process be moved offsite;
2) Update residents on PPG's mitigation plan to reduce odors; and
3) Engage the US EPA to put an end to these ongoing industrial chemicals in our neighborhood's air.
