The county/city has a few options to fix this. They can install an inductive coil in the road that will sense cyclists, the existing coils are designed to sense cars, trucks and motorcycles but not bicycles, or they can use some newer technologies like either a microwave or camera systems that will detect cyclists. The advantage of the camera system is that they don't have to replace it each time they resurface the road since they are mounted to lampposts, traffic light posts or poles.

Sounds like a good use of our tax money. Encourage cyclists to ride in the middle of the roads blocking traffic with no regard for anyone but themselves.
