Agree that Willow St is a hazard. The road is too narrow for two lanes of traffic, the sidewalk has no buffer between pedestrians and the cars which need to hug the curb (because road is too narrow), and vehicles speed to often. A 4-way stop is a good step, but I urge the City of Alameda to take further action to address the public safety hazard that is Willow St.

Agree, Willow St has become unsafe. On Clinton and Willow, we have a four way stop sign, but the issue is that they speed and almost never come to a complete stop or stop at all for the signs. The city needs to address these issues.

Cars routinely ignore the 4-way stop at Willow and San Jose too. This is particularly dangerous since San Jose is a “slow street” that hosts many cyclists and pedestrians.

Thank you for reporting your concerns about street safety in Alameda. Your report will help inform the City of Alameda’s work to achieve our Vision Zero goal of eliminating traffic fatalities and severe injuries. We will use street safety reports, including yours, in combination with crash data and equity indicators to prioritize and design street safety investments. This evaluation will generally happen on an annual basis, with some exceptions for clear and pressing trends. Issues that the City deems to be immediate safety concerns will be elevated for quick action.
