This is an VERY important issue for Ansonia. A drive around Hodge Avenue, Jewett Street, Burke, Vine, Platt and Columbia shows the once wide streets are now parking lots for renters. Snow plows can't clear the streets in the winter and seeing clearly when trying to cross while driving with cars lining both sides of these roads (even when some signs forbid it) is making the area dangerous. Why these people are parking on the street when most of these homes have empty driveways escapes logic. The city ignored the problem during the winter but it has to be addressed somehow. You simply can't turn what was meant to be a single or two family home into four apartments and expect the streets to hold all your tenant's vehicles at no charge.

According to the Connecticut Driver's Manual, parking is not permitted within 25 feet of a stop sign. You don't need an additional "no parking" sign, just call the police to ticket cars parked illegally.

Subzidized livinin is the way to go. Ansonia is the perfect town offer affordable subzidized rents. I'm waitin on HUD to step up and get what was taken away from us on the west side. Ansonias old setting is perfect because it keeps our rents cheep with all the unstable buldins and all. Believe me the price of rents in Bridgeport is no party as I try to get my family of 8 back to Ansonia. Thge tax payer is doin a good job takin care of all of us. Whats the problem

I have called Ansonia PD regarding this issue a couple of times, they come out, and say, well he is not really blocking, but he is 5 feet from the stop sign if not closer... REALLY??? And I just didn't blow through this stop sign officer! (sorry a bit of sarcasm on the intersection of 3 stop signs on Colony Road) But I will keep calling and eventually file a legitimate complaint with the PD if this keeps up. Hopefully before then I or anyone else, will not be struck head-on by a person flying off of No. Main Street onto Colony as I try to crawl around this guy with his work van parked across from the home he owns with the huge empty driveway.

When I lived in Ansonia (less than a year ago) I was always calling to complain about the downstairs tenants not only blocking the fire hydrant and driveway but also parking ON the sidewalk-which should be an automatic ticket. Cops would come and they would move their monster truck but 2 or 3 days later, it was as if nothing had changed. Maybe with the tax hikes, the police department could no longer afford the pens to write out parking tickets.

This is a MAJOR problem in parts of Ansonia. In the area of Hodge, Platt and Columbia you can't make certain turns safely because cars are lining both sides of the street and you can't see if a vehicle is coming without inching out dangerously.

A good example is the corner of Vine and Hodge. Try and come down Vine and make a turn onto Hodge. The cars of renters make it almost impossible to see if someone is coming either way.

These roads MUST be so that parking is only permitted on one side before an accident happens.

Probably because of winter parking they have not been here for a while.
