Descrição

Vibrant downtown areas typically have high pedestrian traffic. Downtown Huntsville could benefit from additional pedestrian infrastructure. Roads around downtown such as California, Andrew Jackson, Lowe, Meridian need more crosswalks. This would be a fairly cheap and easy way to show that the downtown area is walker friendly. Creatively designed pedestrian bridges (replicas of actual bridges i.e. small Golden Gate, small Brooklyn Bridge, etc.) could be a theme used to attract more tourists downtown. A brochure with a map highlighting all the interesting pedestrian bridges would keep people in downtown and walking by area attractions (i.e. museum, restaurants, Harrison Brothers, etc.). Downtown and Five Points have reasonable walkscores: http://www.walkscore.com/score/downtown-huntsville-al A little bit more infrastructure for pedestrians will go a long way.
