Traffic Engineering Department response:
The crosswalk markings at 10th Ave NE and NE 180th St were in place prior to chip sealing in order to delineate walking paths for children going to or coming from North City Elementary. Since North City Elementary has closed, we are no longer marking these crosswalks since they are controlled by stop signs on all approaches. Per Washington State Law (RCW 46.61.235), a driver is required to stop and allow a pedestrian or bicycle to cross the roadway within both marked and unmarked crosswalks.
