I pick up when I can but I am beginning to think why? No one sees these streets! The apartments on Caldecott lane are continually throwing furniture on the island across from these rental apartments! ( there is again a large piece of furniture across from 146 Caldecott Lane)!!!!!! It’s horrendous ! The road- the litter - Oakland does nothing to maintain this area or to report the landlord for his tenant’s blight! It’s very discouraging living in this area!! Nothing is ever done to improve anything!!!

I am glad you are fighting the good fight, Ann. I am not sure if it was you, but I saw a woman out there a few weeks ago with a safety vest on picking up trash. It inspired me to do the same - about once a week I am out there with a bucket and a grabber. I am convinced of the broken window theory of how neighborhoods degrade.
I think a more long-term solution would be to try to get permanent improvements made to the area - repave, add a proper turn out for the firestorm park, etc. I saw that there is a petition out to complete a sidewalk on caldecott (from tunnel road to Berkeley) I think that could help in a small way.
