This sound also wakes me up! Extremely loud for a residential neighborhood!

I will check with our staff person who handles the contract but I believe that since they are picking up in a commercial zone - they are not resticted to the residential hours that begin at 6 am.

This has been a nuisance to me as well. Would it be possible for our neighborhood to petition the company to change their rotation schedule? If this pickup happened even two hours later I don't think it would disturb everyone. I'm sure they could start their early morning pick ups in commercial areas that do not back up against a neighborhood and thus there would be no disturbance. Although the garbage is picked up in a commercial zone, the reason for residential pick up hours are so that residents are not disturbed. My house (in the residential zone) is about 100 short feet from where the truck picks up and the pick up wakes me up at least 4 days a week. Daily pick ups at 4:45am are a huge nuisance. :(

This is the problem with residential next to commercial and with mix-use projects. Although it sounds easy --- it really isn't so. By all means, you can contact the company and see if it is a possibility. You can email them by going to the website at www.republicservices.com or by phone at 925 685-4716. It will probably be more effective if there are numerous people affected. From the City stand point, we do not regulate them in the commercial area.
