The new sewer fee assessment calculation is unfair to those with lawn sprinkler systems. Based my water usage from Feb-May 2013 my sewer fee would be $33.90. For the following period May-Aug 2013, my sewer fee would be $189.72 (4.5 times more!). Comparing my water usage for the same period in 2012, the figures go from $47.46 to $276.08 (5.5 times more!).
My suggestion to the Head of Finance, either the town should pay for a sewage meter for each home, or base the rate on the winter usage, when people are not watering their lawns, filling pools, washing their decks, watering gardens, etc.
The current calculation the town of Enfield uses for the sewer fee is unfair as it does not accurately assess SEWER usage. My suggestions would be more representative of the actual sewer usage. Thank you. Robert Atiyeh 4.22.2014

Installing sewage meters on existing homes was an impractical and expensive option for a community that is already substantially built out. The accuracy on residential sized sewer meters is also questionable without regular replacement or inspection. I believe you can have one installed on your system, but it likely far easier and less costly for you to consider the deduct water meter option.
The WPC policy also details mechanisms for customers to have adjustments made annually for pool fills, and a seasonal discount for the typical outdoor water use applied to the usage in June, July, and August.
