We contacted the City back on May 18, 2018, regarding the lot adjacent to ours and the severe blight conditions that still continue to this day at 520 Elizabeth, Rochester, MI 48307.

The last we spoke the owner was cited in 2017 & 2018. This lot is absolutely out of control. Is anyone following up on the citations? What is the next legal steps that can be taken by the City?

Since our first complaint they've only trimmed a few limbs and that is it.There has been no effort to resolve the on-going situation. We have completely eradicated the ivy from our side, but nothing to improve the conditions from their side has been done. They have ivy growing throughout their entire lot, which s encroaching onto ourlotr and other neighbors lot as well.

The pool in the backyard is harborng wildlife only, no one swims in it. The insects coming from he lot is OUT OF CONTROL! This pool needs to come down andthey should not drain the pool into the city sewer lines, which is what happen every years

The city sidewalk on his lot is overgrown and needs to be edged and properly maintained..

I am requesting assistance in this matter and would like all of the ivy and trees along the fence line removed, if possible. We've cut THEIR trees (weeds) back several times and should not be required to do so.

Any assistance in the matter would be appreciatedg

Bails of hay need removed. Been here for over a year. Also the Fire department chief said the hydrant would be capped. Safety issue as fire hydrant has been hit many times by cars. Why is it replaced and not capped like fire chief wanted?

The nail salon on the first floor is not using proper ventilation, and leaking VOC's into the rest of the building. We have multiple air quality monitors set up around the property monitoring day and night. Subject to code 401.3, they must use proper ventilation at all open business times. Also code R 338.2171, section C states they must have adequate lighting and ventilation in every occupied space. Finally code 401.6 requires all stationary local sources, that produce odor, fumes, vapors, smoke and gasses must have their own exhaust system discharge directly near the exterior of the building.

Alliance Catholic CU has installed new LED.parking.lot lamps. they replaced shielded pole lamps that limited light to their parking lot. now, super bright light throws blinding light into our home on Lysander as well as deep into our property. This violates building code. These new lamps need to have shrouds added that block light that spills into the neighborhood. An example that works is the LED street light in front of our house. It illuminates the street to the sidewalk and fades to darkness before it reaches our house. Please investigate this and offer a solution to maintain main street commercial property to residential district transition. Thank you.

I have been meaning to reach out to you sooner, but I was wonder what the process is for tending to/keeping up the historic grounds of Mount Avon Cemetery. I have done a significant amount of Civil War research on Avon’s veterans and was disappointed to find one of Rochester’s Civil War graves cracked in half and just sat up against another larger grave recently. Judging by vehicle tracks in the dirt nearby, it appears to have been run over by a vehicle of some sort. There is another grave not far from this one of another Civil War veteran that is also broken in half and has been for about a year. I have attached pictures of both of them.

I understand weather and conditions make it a challenge to keep up with overturned stones and graves that have simply succumbed to the elements, but if there is any process for fixing some of these graves, I would like to nominate these two to be tended to. The two graves belonged to:

    1. Joseph Reimer - The Pennsylvania-born Reimer served for three months as a Captain in the 153rd Pennsylvania Infantry. He opened a hardware business on Main that would evolve into Case’s Hardware. His home still stands on Walnut Street.

    2. Henry Millard - Millard was a nephew of early Avon pioneer Nathaniel Millard. Henry served with the 47th Indiana Infantry where he was mortally wounded at the Battle of Champion Hill, Mississippi in May, 1863. The battle was a part of the lead up to Grant’s capture of Vicksburg. Millard died in a Memphis Army Hospital in early June. His stone indicates he was killed at Champion Hill.

    Thank you.

Some of floodlights installed during the upgrades of the City tennis courts are directed at our home front. It is especially a nuisance now that the home that was at Sixth and Madison has been demolished. I am requesting that the fixtures are adjusted to a more appropriate angle due to the wattage and intensity of the lighting. Not only will this create a more pleasant nighttime environment, it will direct the light where it is most beneficial to the users of the courts.

Hi....on 10/06/23 we went to the Rochester Chop House and parked in the metered parking lot behind the restaurant. I put my charge card in the meter and charged 2 hours. On my charge card I was charged 3 times. $3.00, 2.50, 3.75, for the same day. I was wondering if that is normal?? Or did I make some sort of mistake while using the meter. Thanks in advance.
