Your concern reported to Chatham Borough has been completed and closed at this time. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Thanks for getting involved and bringing this to our attention!
Please see response from Morris County MUA below:
The items that the resident is asking about are trash and should not be placed in a recycling container. Utensils, straws, paper/plastic plates, cups and any items that are dirty or food covered are contaminates and should be thrown away in the trash.
Regarding plastic trash bags, the curbside crews are instructed to only pick up transparent plastic bags that contain shredded paper. Plastic bags/film are a problem at the MRF because they get wrapped around the machinery and stall processing of materials.
Can the attached unacceptable materials flyer be posted on the complaint software? It may answer other questions that come up now and again. Also, here is a link to the flyer from the MUA’s website: https://mcmua.com/docs/Single%20stream%20unacceptable%20items.pdf
