Safety hazard trying to cross Hardeman Ave. to get to The Brick ...Traffic speeding down Hardeman makes it a challenge to cross !!!

This issue needs to to be fixed asap. The drivers sped down the road and the pedestrian crossing sign is not noticeable to them.. I have a 16 month old baby boy and we like to go to the Brick often and visit my husband when he is working at the office space. We usually have to wait a good 10 minutes before traffic to somewhat clear up and when we do I have to run across the street to avoid us getting hit. Please do something about this!!!!

I try to cross here regularly, but have to wait 10 minutes for a break in traffic.There isn't a crossing sign facing the other direction to let traffic know there is a crosswalk. This is a great location to access apartments and restaurants, however it is dangerous given the lack of visibility to oncoming traffic letting them know there is a pedestrian crossing.

I cross here as well and it is always scary!

What is the status of this concern? It has been almost 2 years since it was reported.

Laney, great question! Its still the same today, not sure if there is any update from Gov't.

Traffic Engineering has looked at this location on several occasions and concluded this is not an ideal spot for mid-block crossing. Hardeman Avenue has an average daily traffic count of 10,000 vehicles per day. In our opinion, it would not be safe to install an unsignalized crosswalk, because it would give pedestrians a false sense of security while crossing at this location. We have installed crossing signs to alert motorist of the potential crossing of pedestrians in this area. In addition, our budget cannot support the installation of a signalized crossing at this time and this location does not meet the required warrants for a traffic signal.
