Yes, MPD officers get a pass. Better that he's parking while in his apartment goofing off than out driving around while talking on his cell phone. He can park his personal vehicle where he wants, too -- witness scores of illegally parked cars on Indiana Ave and along the Mall. All you have to do to get free, unlimited parking in DC is toss a fake "MPD" cap or jacket on your dashboard. DPW and Park Police will not ticket. Zero respect for the law.

I agree - and this is unfortunate. They get a pass - but they shouldn't. What the officer does not realize is that he/she does two things when illegally parking their car in an alley like this. 1. they create a safety hazard for perps to hide behind in a dark alley. Try walking this alley in the middle of the night with a bunch a cars illegally parked and tell me you are looking behind your back 10 times more often. A clear alley is a safe alley. 2. they lead by example, and as you can see - someone already parked behind this car. It's such a simple concept. if you want people to respect the law and abide by the law, then you too have to respect the law and abide by the law. The slightest deviation from that - is where police lose respect for the law and teach others to do that same. It's not a "big deal" then why is it a LAW to begin with? A CLEAR ALLEY IS A SAFE ALLEY. Come on DC Police, do the right thing and show us how one is supposed to keep an alley safe - and protect US from harm.
