With the opening of the new St. Croix River bridge, traffic on Hwy 36 has increased dramatically. While I know MNDot is still working to optimize traffic signal timing, further adjustments still need to be made. Same problem still exists in terms of length of time cars are given to make turn from eastbound 36 to northbound Lake Elmo Avenue. Not uncommon to wait two cycles of light signals to make this turn, especially during rush hour (7am-8:30am and 3:30pm-6:15pm). Still a problem dealing with traffic coming south on Lake Elmo Ave turning onto westbound Hwy 36 on red light, with cars attempting to do u-turn onto westbound Hwy 36. Also, it is extremely difficult to turn from Keats Avenue into eastbound Hwy 36 during rush hour..... no acceleration lane and lots of traffic.

Also issue of speed limit of Hwy 36, between Hilton Trail and Lake Elmo Avenue. Many cars driving way in excess of speed limit, only to slam the brakes and cause rear end accidents just west of Lake Elmo Avenue stoplight. Ever wonder how many near misses occur? I invite you to come hang out at Keats Avenue and count the near misses. Maybe you could also invite the State Patrol to increase speed limit enforcement. Safety first!
