Description
Cars don't slow down or stop at this intersection making it a deadly hazard for pedestrians, dogs and cars alike. Need a pressure senstive stop light so that people on Ord Street can cross safely and vehicles can turn safely.
17th Street has turned into a high-speed cross town autobahn. Time to slow it down a bit by placing a light where it belongs.
Stopsign 1/2 a block away at 17th/Douglass proves to be ineffective.
Please put a stoplight, or at least a blinking 4 way red light at Ord Street and 17th. I am tired at playing frogger and losing.

Over 2 years later and the problem is getting worse. 17th Street is used as a major cross town street. People don't stop at the stop sign going up hill, and careen down the hill at warp speed without heeding people in the cross walk. With driver inattention at an all time high, something needs to be done or someone is going to get needlessly killed.
Maybe a camera that gives cars tickets that don't make a full stop at the stop sign would help enforce the law and make the area safer. Taxi cabs are notorious at night to blow through the intersection both ways without stopping. The speed indicator coming down the hill has helped some, but not for the drivers that are texting or doing other things instead of paying attention to the road.
Please advise.
