Left turns onto Caldwell used to be allowed from Oaklawn Ave and Sunland Drive. The traffic was ridiculous. Unfortunately, drivers would race down these residential streets at high speeds. This made the area unsafe for children. Not sure why East Osborne was made into a one way. This should be changed so the left turn onto Caldwell ismade there. That street is not a residential street.

The no left turns from Oaklawn and Sunland made some sense when it was first enacted, but those times are long past. Unfortunately, if left turns are allowed, those streets are again going to get slammed with speeders. I feel for those homeowners as they'll probably be forced to pay for speed humps. To the city -- go out there during rush hour and look how many people illegally make the left turn. With no enforcement it's a risk that pays off for them to bypass the near gridlock on Dresden. Also, if you're looking at changing things on Oaklawn and Sunland, what about doing something about the valet parking situation at Kaleidoscope? And better timing of traffic lights at Caldwell? There are lots of moving pieces to the traffic mess and they all need to be looked at together, not separately.

True - definitely too many people speeding as is and wouldn't want to encourage it more. I agree with PG, ideally the whole system in that area needs to be re-evaluated to try and find some logical solution.

It's awful how many people disregard the "No Left Turn" sign from Sunland onto Caldwell and end up cruising through at high speeds. As a long time resident, I see it every day and am thankful I'm not walking with my young children at the time. A permanent re-opening of that intersection would be disastrous. Meanwhile, why should I have to pay for speed bumps when I'm already paying for a new local government that should be enforcing (or at least reinforcing) its traffic control?

Agree with the racing down Oaklawn Ave -- but No legal left hand turn has NOT deterred traffic traveling Apple Valley Road and cutting across Oaklawn Ave and Sunland to Caldwell and turning left on Caldwell. This has been reported for YEARS and the county does nothing about it-- 9 out of 10 cars passing my house make illegal left hand turns!! We asked for speed bumps-- now limited exit. Naturally the county planning people knew best-- without consulting the neighborhood. One more time-- either enforce the illegal left hand turn at the end of the street-- or take it out and put in speed bumps!! Brookhaven police don't care-- they sit right there- or better yet sit in J Cristopher's drinking coffee-- and do nothing to enforce this area. Yes-- the traffic is deplorable on Dresden-- but that is what develops are all about-- the neighborhoods are left to figure it out for themselves.

As a resident in this area, The volume and speed of which traffic comes through these streets is absurd. Speeding, illegal turns are the norm. And that is with the clearly marked No Left Turn. These are residential streets, not "cut-throughs," which our tax bills will surely substantiate.

I agree with the earlier comment about East Osborne, which used to the a 2-way street that does not have residences. Can this be pursued as a route to stop the illegally turning traffic in Sunland and Oaklawn?

Whether to get speed tables installed or not is entirely up to the residents of the street. Do some research, initiate the process, do the legwork, get it done if that's what you want. Don't expect some all-powerful entity, whether county or city, to do it for you.
