    I was walking across the street w my child coming from the elemenatry school at 5pm last week and was almost hit by a car. The car slammed on its breaks and made a loud screeching sound, almost hitting us in the crosswalk. It would be much safer to cross Park at Everett Ave if it was "road diet" trimmed to one lane in each direction at this popular Park blvd crossing site headed to Glenview Elementary (just like the road diet on Park near Edna Brewer Elementary).

    I am a special assistant working with Councilmember Gallo in the Glenview neighborhood and have been contacted multiple times by residents regarding traffic/pedestrian safety issues at the intersection of E. 38th & Beaumont Avenue directly behind Edna Brewer Middle School. The community has requested a stop sign as a light has not been funded at this time. Students, seniors and others attempting to cross here are not feeling safe. In addition, there have been many collisions at this intersection and adding a stop sign may be the only way to slow down vehicles coming from Park Blvd and up from Beaumont as they exit 580.     City of Oakland Department of Public Works,

    I live in the Crocker Highlands neighborhood and regularly drive my vehicles on Park Blvd. Last night, I hit a pothole near the 4700 block which resulted in my third flat tire on Park Blvd over the course of two years.

    There are so many potholes on Park Blvd between Mountain Blvd and 8th Avenue that it causes drivers to drive erratically, causing accidents and damage to public and private property. The City of Oakland needs to provide a temporary means to patch the road in 2022 and needs to look at a long-term solution that completely rebuilds the geotechnical and structural aspects of the roadway to meet current and future transportation needs so the public can safely navigate the public right of way.

    I will be writing to and raising this issue with the District 2 Councilmember, Nikki Fortunata Bas, to ensure she understands that the current status of this roadway is structurally and operationally unacceptable, especially based on the property tax raised within the District and various Measures that have passed over recent years (ie. Measure KK approved in 2016).

    I'm hopeful that you take this complaint seriously as an Oakland resident who rarely engages in the Cities political affairs and the needed work can be done in short order.
