East Norwalk, CT south of I-95

Notified About

  • 238 East Ave Norwalk, CT 06855, USA - South Norwalk East Bound Lot
The pedestrian walkway under the railroad tracks is in horrible condition. It is not well lit, sidewalk is crumbling and hand rails are broken. A walkway should also be available on the other side of the road.
  • 216 East Ave Norwalk, CT 06855, USA - South Norwalk East Bound Lot
There is a marked crosswalk in this location that is mostly used for train commuters during rush hour. Oncoming traffic does not properly observe this crosswalk. I have seen many near misses in 8 years of daily commuting and feel that this is a very dangerous situation for pedestrians. Unmarked police cars should park here for a day or two around 8:00 A.M. and pass out tickets. Better yet, a crossing light should be installed.
  • 79 Seaview Avenue Norwalk, Connecticut - Norwalk
This building is owned by the same persons who own Overton's as far as I can tell, since at one point there were signs on it advertising Overton's ice cream. This property has for years been in a state of disrepair, with windows missing, broken windows, boarded up windows, collapsing staircases, and paneling falling off. This is certainly something that should be considered by the City for a fine under the new Blight Ordinance.
  • 7 Calf Pasture Beach Rd Norwalk, CT 06855, USA - Norwalk
calk pasture is the main road to access the public beach in Norwalk, however there is about 100 yards of sidewalk that is so narrow you have to walk single file. People and bikes are often forced off the sidewalk and out into the roadway. There also happens to be a blind turn which makes it even more dangerous.
I suggest removing the asphalt center median at this location which is roughly 3 feet wide and widening the sidewalk or making a short bike lane to protect the pedestrians, joggers and cyclists that frequently use the road/sidewalk. It is a precarious situation that is an accident waiting to happen.
  • Pot hole Archived
58 Winfield St Norwalk, CT 06855, USA - Norwalk
A pot hole has opened up on the intersection of Villaway Road and Winfield Street.
  • 169 East Ave Norwalk, CT - Norwalk
Every day, my husband and I walk down East Avenue to the East Norwalk train station and back. And every day I am honestly scared something may happen.
Most car drivers completely ignore that pedestrians may be crossing the street, particularly by the on- and off ramps to I-95. Even if the pedestrian light is on green, cars drive all the way to the end of the intersection before stopping. I wonder whether better policing could help, but improved yield signs might also be beneficial.
Another thing I have noticed when driving off the I-95 at exit 16 myself is that the big "Welcome to Norwalk" signs almost fully hide pedestrians from drivers' views. We may want to re-consider whether we value the orientation of our visitors more than our pedestrians' safety, and if a different placement of the signs is an option. If anything, walking and the use of public transportation should be promoted - not turned into an adrenaline rush for all the wrong reasons.
  • 10 First St. Norwalk, CT - Norwalk
This business closed many years ago and the landlord of the building has allowed the property to become derelict. The windstorm last March damaged the plate glass window, which still hasn't been repaired and is covered by unsightly tarps. Aren't there laws in Norwalk to prevent owners from letting their properties go to seed like this?
  • 184-190 East Avenue Norwalk, Connecticut - Norwalk
As if the derelict state of this empty hasn't been enough of an eyesore for the past 20 years since the restaurant that was there was demolished, the slumlord owners are now permitting EuroMotors, Inc. to hawk used cars there. I know Norwalk's Zoning regs are a joke, but this is really pushing the boundaries.
  • Winfield And Strawberry Hill Norwalk, CT - South Norwalk East Bound Lot
Traffic light has been blinking for the last 2 weeks. Dangerous specially at rush hour times.
  • 37 Seaview Ave Norwalk, Connecticut - Norwalk
Speeders fly down this road constantly creating a dangerous environment. There is a ton of foot traffic and bicycle traffic along this road adjacent to Veteran's park. A few speed bumps is really needed and maybe a painted cross walk as well.
  • Poplar Street Norwalk, Connecticut - Norwalk
This "project" of tilling the roads and then paving them is taking way too long. It is already weeks behind schedule, and leaves dangerous potholes and manholes exposed. The machine that took the edge of the road to be paved off in front of my driveway, left such a harsh ledge I am unable to get my car out without severely damaging the front bumper. The rough terrain was left over the weekend, and now it is the end of the day on Tuesday and nothing has been done. Not only is this an eyesore, but it is also a nuisance. It is creating difficulties with driving and even walking the dog on uneven pavement. When will this "project" be finished? ...hopefully before the first snow...
