LCI - Dwight/Chapel PLUS

I know the police are busy but its ridiculous that we are allowing people to destroy this park by putting their cars on it, consider the environmental hazard of oil leaking into the grass area as well.

It is a daily occurrence that I am seeing cars parked on the public green area that divides the two directions of Edgewood ave, the issue happens in the evenings. This is unacceptable especially considering taxpayers pay to maintain this property.

If there is not enough parking in the area then maybe the zoning needs to be looked at as far as the rental properties.

Dangerous slide - there is a hole in one of the slides and covering the hole is a piece of plywood bolted to the slide. The slide is not roped off, however, so if a child (or adult) did not notice the plywood, the child would slide right into the plywood. This is a serious safety hazard.

I believe someone is sleeping on the front porch of this property. Trash all over front porch. There is also blight outside - no one has moved grasses along sidewalk and entrance.

I am re-posting this issue because the signal has been fixed twice now, but is once again broken, so this ticket is specifically for the third iteration of it breaking. This is the same signal as others have reported at the intersection of Edgewood Avenue and Dwight.

Some additional information is also that this signal is maintained by city-hired contractors. It was fixed on 2/5/24 (and once more before then), but both times it has been fixed, the signal breaks again almost immediately after. The contractors must be informed the entire unit needs to be replaced, not simply reset.

This broken light is dangerous for a few reasons, and has now caused about 7-8 accidents, a few of which have been quite severe, and all of which have resulted in damage to the involved vehicles.

1. The light flashes yellow on Edgewood but red on Dwight, every time it breaks. There's two issues with this. One is that not everyone knows/heeds the flashing red (which means STOP), and they just blow through it. Yellow does not mean stop at all (it just means caution), so they hit the person on the yellow (Edgewood) side.

2. This intersection has bad visibility, hence why the signal is there in the first place. In at least one instance, even when the person on the red side stopped, and the person on yellow slowed down, they cannot see one another easily. So, if the person on the red side moves, and yellow doesn't see them, it results in a crash.

Not only is this pretty dangerous, it's also resulting in a TON of honking every time there is nearly an accident, which disturbs everyone.

This house caught fire over a year ago and has been in this condition; scorched, boarded up, and abandoned ever since. What is being done to either rehab or demo the building? It sits on the corner of chapel and Sherman, a prominent and important gateway to our community. I'd love to see this property fixed up and rented out or transformed into something useful, right now it's an eyesore and a liability.

Is this driveway legal?

Attention Police!
Today December 27 at 4:27 PM, my surveillance camera caught these two kids stealing a package off my neighbor’s porch—two young people probably high school age, one female and the other probably male. The female wore blue jeans, a dark short jacket (or vest) with colorful red or maroon panels, down each side. Pinkish/lavender high top sneakers, and a white or light colored hat or bandana. She also appears to have her hair tied back in a ponytail. And it looks like she has a shoulder bag hanging low on her right hip.
Gender is a bit questionable but it appears the other one is probably a boy in a puffy black jacket, skinny black pants, black or dark brown high top shoes and was wearing white earbuds with white wire and phone in hand.
Anyone know these kids?

I own two properties on Dwight Street: 163 Dwight and 215 Dwight. I upkeep these properties assiduously. The property at 189 Dwight Street has serious blight issues and is making the neighborhood unsightly and driving down property values. Within the last year, repair work began on this property but then abruptly ended. Please address this issue!

As tenants of Pike International property management (at 401 and 401.5 crown street), they have failed to act on multiple requests for lost/stolen trash bins and recycling bins. Is there any city department that can force them to give us more (as they seem to ignore tenant maintenance requests) or a department that can provide more trash and at least a single recycling receptacle for the three buildings that have to put their trash in this drive way?
