    Any weekend on any warm day will see children jumping from the ferry terminals on any of the four Bay Islands. While this is dangerous both from the point of view of the marine traffic that uses these areas and from the number of sharks capable of attack, the worst problem is with the older youths running along the roofs of the ramps to jump into the water. Macleay island passenger terminal is particularly deadly with four metres that need to be cleared over the pontoon and the ferry safety fence (see photo) before a diver can reach the water. Warnings do not work and the only sane way of dealing with the issue is by redesign of the roofing so that running jumps are not possible.

    Canaipa Point Drive has a dangerous blind curve at Byron Street. It has been the site of at least two accidents in the last two years. The warning sign blew away in the January storms and has not been replaced.

    A critical missing link in the cycleway between Redland Bay Marina and Victoria Point is a 300m dirt track beween North and the wooden pedestrian bridge over Moorurrampum Creek, Redland Bay.

    Following up from my previous note of a road sign missing at the curve on Canaipa Point Drive I checked the warning sign on the northern side of the dangerous curve to find it was about to blow away too. The bolts are badly rusted and the surfaces flaked off.

Instead the Queensland Government run planner has only the car barge service leaving five times a day. The Journey Planner is an important tool for those taking trips from the islands to mainland destinations.
