Tonight I saw the traffic light for York turn green while the count-down timer for pedestrians crossing York on the south side was still counting down. I did not stay to see if this was repeated in the following cycle. I did push the ped button on the south corner.
  • 317-353 Cedar Street New Haven, Connecticut - New Haven - Ward 03
Pedestrian walk button not functioning on the north east corner of the intersection of Ceder and Congress (the side of the street directly opposite Congress from Blue State)
  • 25 Howe Street New Haven, Connecticut - Dwight
A van with plate number 7967-CS is parked in the crosswalk that crosses Howe St on the south side of George. Not only does the van block the crosswalk, it also blocks the view for cars making a right turn from Howe St. onto George when there are pedestrians crossing George St.
  • South Frontage Road New Haven, Connecticut - Dwight

Cars on S. Frontage that go straight through the intersection consistently block the intersection during the all-phase pedestrian crossing during rush hour. This forces peds who want to cross S. Frontage to weave in-between cars, hoping that when the traffic on S. Frontage suddenly starts moving the cars in the intersection will not squash them. I have seen numerous close calls where the driver blocking the intersection/crosswalk starts to drive (during the ped crossing phase) headless of pedestrians trying to cross.

Can we get some traffic enforcement in this area? There is a usually a cop not 30 feet away who makes sure cars can safely exit the parking garage onto S. Frontage - where is the same concern about pedestrian safety?

  • 52 College Street New Haven, Connecticut - New Haven - Ward 03
Many cars along in this section of College st. are parked completely in the bike lane rendering the bike lane unusable to cyclists and forcing them to ride in the car traffic lane. This seems to be due to snow blocking the parking spaces - however this does not excuse blocking a lane of traffic.
  • 13-21 York Street New Haven, Connecticut - New Haven - Ward 03
The pedestrian call button on the south corner of the intersection is not working. This is a busy pedestrian crossing, and due to design of the intersection if the pedestrians don't call for a signal they never get an opportunity to cross S. Frontange
  • 220 South Frontage Road New Haven, Connecticut - New Haven - Ward 03
Vehicles consistently park on the sidewalk bordering S. Frontage Rd. Often they park in such a way that forces pedestrians into traffic. This issue has been brought up repeatedly - there needs to be some enforcement of the issue.

  • 390 George Street New Haven, Connecticut - Dwight
The pedestrian call button on the south corner of George and Crown is not functioning. Pressing it does not cause the signal to change following the green signal for George traffic as should be the case
  • 220 S Frontage Rd New Haven, CT - New Haven - Ward 03
There are often vehicles parked on the sidewalk on the S. Frontage road of 60 College st. sometimes forcing people to walk either on the (busy) street or in the mud (during rains). The sidewalks here are already narrow and the environment is not naturally conducive to walking
