  • 180 Washington Ave Belleville, NJ 07109, USA - Belleville
There is a discontinuity in Route 7 in Belleville. Rutgers Street is signed as Rt. 7 but really isn't Rt. 7 according to official documentation. Basically the signs lie. Rt. 7 is officially split in two sections - Washington Ave. proceeding north from the Newark border is one section (a clue is overhead signs with the Rt. 7 logo south of Rutgers Street, which conflict with the signs on Rutgers Street). To make a long story short, offcials from the Township of Belleville, Essex County and the New Jersey Department of Transportation need to put their heads together and get Rutgers Street officially signed as Rt. 7 to fill the gap. And change the small portion of Washington St. from Rutgers St. to the Newark border to another route number or leave it unsigned altogether. I'm pretty sure there are no other remaining instances of gaps in Interstate, U.S. or State highway numbers in the entire state of New Jersey (aside from I-95 in the Trenton area).
  • Kingland Avenue/Washington Avenue Intersection Clifton NJ - Clifton
Small portion of Route 7 runs from Nutley to Clifton then back into Nutley. The Clifton portion is not signed because it is under county jurisdiction. Problem is within that one small portion Rt. 7 makes a right turn from Kingsland Avenue eastbound onto Washington Avenue southbound and there are no signs for this. Rt. 7 south signs with a right-hand turn arrow need to be installed where Kingsland Avenue meets Washington Avenue.
  • Route 280 And Route 21 Newark Nj - Central Business District
Ramp from 280 west to 21 north is completely overrun with garbage and overgrown weeds. There is also evidence of homeless people living under the overpass. Reported this to the state four times and nothing has been done.
