20 King Place New Haven, CT - Hill
To Public Works - please explain:
Why are there 2 seperate rules for different neighborhoods regarding street sweeping? In the 'less suburban' areas of New Haven, there is a 'TAG AND TOW' policy which means when street signs are posted for street sweeping - your car can and most likely will be tagged and towed if on the street where cleaning is scheduled to take place. But in the 'non-inner-city' areas, the policy on the City of New Haven Public Works website clearly reads '...Tag and Tow doesn’t operate in the following neighborhoods'. See the policy below taken directly from the City Public Works webpage (http://cityofnewhaven.com/PublicWorks/sweep/index.asp):
Tag and Tow Routes include:
Route # 2 - Beaver Hills
Route # 3 – Newhallville & Prospect & Grove
Route # 4 – East Rock & Cedar Hill
Route # 5 - Fair Haven(from Blatchley Ave)
Route # 8 - Wooster Square & Fair Haven (to Blatchley Ave)
Route #10 - West River & Dwight Edgewood
Route # 12 – Hill (North)
Route #13 – Hill (South) & City PointNo Tag and No Tow Routes include:
Route # 1 – Amity/West Rock
Route # 6 – Fair Haven Heights & Foxon
Route # 7 – Fair Haven Heights & Annex
Route # 9 – Downtown (during evening hours)
Route #11 – Westville
Route # 14 – Annex & East Shore
Route # 15 – Morris Cove & East ShorePlease explain.

Truman St New Haven, CT - Hill
At the first announcement of a parking ban from Wednesday night 6pm thru Thrusday morning 6:00am, the residents on our street worked diligently to have ALL cars moved from odd # side of street to facilitate plowing. NO PLOWS CAME THRU. We then received notice that the parking ban was extended for Thursday night thru Friday morning and we again, worked diligently to have ALL cars moved from odd# side of street to facilitate plowing. Again, NO PLOWS CAME THRU. So the parking ban has been extended for this evening - and hopefully we can convince our neighbors not to park on the odd side of the street. But if the City expects us to do our part, then it should not be 'unrealistic' to expect our street to be plowed on the odd side. A more realistic schedule of removal shoudl be developed and street signs posted - just like street sweeping because residents are becoming more and more skeptical that their streets will get plowed - even when they are compliant! This mnorning I drove down the following streets and saw that NO PLOWING ON THE ODD SIDE OF THE STREETS HAD BEEN DONE: Truman, Adeline, Morris, Barclay, King, Clover, Lamberton, West, Lines, Washington, Spring, DeQitt, Button, Hurlburt, Arthur, Wilson, Greenwich, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th ... all in the HILL SECTION. I did see the Plymouth Street (which received assistance from the National Guard and was featured in the NH Register) was clear. This is a one-way street wide enough for almost 4 lanes of traffice. Cars were parked on both sides of the street and there was room on the street for a two car lane. Excellent work National Guard but I don't understand why this street which is exactly 2 blocks long received such concentrated effort and NONE of the others in the vicinity received ANY ATTENTION - many are barely passsable with mounds of snow on both sides and cars not able to park near the curb. Please call your Alders if you want your street done (Delores Colon 203-773-1112, Andrea Jackson-Brooks 203-776-0502, Jorge Perez 203-562-4373) and ask them to bring the HILL to the attention of the Mayor and Rob Smuts for plowing. I am trying to keep a positive attitude and rally people but it is getting a bit discouraging when you see an entire neighborhood neglected.

These items were discarded by the tenants and just piled into the back yard - before the hurricane and before the snow. They are now beginning to show mold. And as you can see, it is next to a trampoline where children play DAILY!!!!

This debris was just carried out and dumpted in the back of this house located at 28 Truman Street where several children live and play. You can regularly see raccoons and possum in this back yard area, that is clearly visible 2 houses over from King Place. THIS LANDLORD SHOULD BE CITED.

3 King Place New Haven, CT - Hill
This area is a constant area of complaint. It is on the corner of Washington and King, has no fence, and is regularly used for illegal dumping. Perhaps the property owner can be 'advised' to put up a fence or be charged a fee everytime LCI has to clean up.

32 Truman Street New Haven, CT - Hill
This vehicle is parked regularly on the front lawn of 32 truman Street. The owner of the vehicle does not live on this property, he lives next door.
Is this type of parking legal, can he be advised to remove the vehicle or can his vehicle be ticketed?

32 Truman Street New Haven, CT - Hill
This property is located at 32 Truman Street. This is the 3rd week in a row that these toters have not been picked up by Public Works: (1) the tenants nor the landlords 'agent' has brought them out to the curb and (2) because they contain food waste and other non-recyclable garbage. The tenants have been advised what to put in which toters and when to bring them to the curb; the landlord has been advised to inform his tenants what to put in which toters and when to bring them to the curb. The remain consistently non-compliant and the landlords has been fined in the past, and will continue to be fined. Thank you LCI and Public Works for addressing this recurring issue promptly ...
The City of New Haven Municipal Code Title V: Housing Code; Article III: Standards & Requirments for Dwellings clearly states in Par. 306. - Duty of occupant to dispose of rubbish, garbage that "In addition to duties specified elsewhere in this title, every occupant of a dwelling or dwelling unit shall dispose of all his rubbish in a clean and sanitary manner by placing it in rubbish containers required by subparagraph (d) of paragraph 300 of this title, and shall dispose of all his garbage and any other organic waste which might be food for rodents, in a clean and sanitary manner, by placing it in garbage disposal facilities or garbage storage containers required by said subparagraph."
Municipal Code Title V: Housing Code; Article III: Dtandards & Requirements for Dwellings states in Sec. 9-51: Anti Blight (d) Property Maintenance Violation that " (ix): trash receptacles shall be emptied on a regular basis. The Penalty for violation. Violation of this section shall result in a fine up to one hundred dollars ($100.00) or the maximum amount authorized by state statutes or this Code for each day that said violation continues.
This problem was first reported on Wednesday Sept. 12 - 14 days ago X $100 per day is $1400.00. This is revenue that the landlord who resides in New York should have to pay. He collects rents from 3 apartments that receive 'subsidies' so he can well afford it.
I am a resident homeowner who also works in New Haven. I serve on a Board in the City of New Haven, and recieved a parking ticket whil attending a Board meeting downtown .. the meter was expired by 1 minute. I paid the fine. So should he be fined.

Limbs are hanging over power lines. Several dead branches from diseased trees have fallen on cars and into the street. The canopy is so thick it interfers with the lighting on the street, encouraging criminal activity (drug sales, car thefts, vandalisms, robberies and burglaries). This request was made directly to the Parks Dept at the last Mayors Night Out that was held 8/22/12 at Betsy Ross School.

Looks like the recycling trucks have passed the blue toters brought to the Frank Street curbside of this address AGAIN (3rd week straight?) and not emptied them because they contain non-recyclable styrofoam food containers visible on the top of toter.
Now the toters should be emptied (for sanitation reasons) and owner should be fined. Or what is the plan to have this matter resolved by bringing them into compliance?

Burnt Out Automobile Archived32 Truman Street New Haven, CT - Hill
This vehicle is totally burnt out and needs to be removed. It was dropped off at the corner of Truman and King in front of 32 Truman Street by a towtruck during the night and does not belong to anyone who lives at that address. It has a sign on the burnt out windshield saying it belongs to the cousin of someone who lives down the street at 18 Truman Street ... Kelley Moye. It should be moved to Kelley Moyes yard where he has plenty of room but it needs to be removed from the street.

These toters have been left curbside of the lot next to 69 Frank Street. They are full and overflowing. Trash was pickedup on Wednesday morning and I think they put this garbage out after trash was picked up. The tenenats/landlord needs to be advised to remove the toters from the curb, sort garbage from recycleable materials and put them in the correct toter, and to bring htem to the curb for pickup next week BEFORE the trucks come.

Please have tenants/landlord notified to remove from curb until next pick up day next week and properly sort garbage from recycleable before this ends up all over the neighborhood. Thanks.
