    5th Street & Willie Stargell Avenue Alameda, California - Alameda

    I filed an issue several months ago about this light and the light at the other end of 5th (@ Ralph Appezato). The intersection at 5th & Ralph Appezato is working great, but the intersection at 5th & Willie Stargell is still not triggered by a bicycle. I commuted to the ferry this morning on my bicycle, placed myself all over the left turn lane (from 5th onto Willie Stargell) and still watched 3 cycles of lights ignore me until finally a car came by to trigger it.

    I commute to the Ferry daily by bicycle or Scooter. The city bike lane (with painted lanes) runs West along Ralph Appezato, turns right onto 5th street, and left on Willie Stargell Ave. The newly installed traffic light sensors (as part of the new Target construction) do not detect a bicycle. In addition, at the intersection of 5th Street & Ralph Appezato (when turning left from 5th onto Ralph Appezato), the traffic light also does not sense a bicycle. So, we have 5th street, between Ralph Appezato and Willie Stargell, with painted bicycle lanes and a traffic light at each end that does not recognize bicycles.
