  • Wild Dunes Drive Raleigh, North Carolina - Raleigh Council District C
On Friday 1st August I was first on the scene at an accident which involved a driver losing vehicle control and crashing into cypress trees just beyond the intersection of Wild Dunes Drive and Royal Troon Drive in the Hedingham subdiivision. If the cyprees trees(planted by the property owner) had not been there the vehicle would have crashed into a house and caused serious damage to both house and vehicle not to mention possible loss of life. Wild Dunes Drive is used by drivers as a shortcut to using Southall to Eagle Trace. There have been several incidents at this intersection since 'traffic calming' was instituted on Eagle Trace. The only way to slow traffic on Wild Dunes Drive is to place speed bumps at strategic locations, which will prevent speeding and reckless driving. Wild Dunes is popular for pedestrians and is not meant to be a 'thruway' There is no sidewalk and a blind corner which makes entry into Wild Dunes Drive from Long Point and Grand Cypress a risky process.
