The ditch behind 207 Shadowbrook has partially filled with leaves and small branches dropped by over hanging trees and washed down from upstream. It needs to be cleaned out because the mouth of the pipe at the end is partially blocked and is in danger of being blocked completely. (Note: The preview of the image does not show the full picture.)

Some months ago, the city came out and used a water jet to clear a blockage in the pipe which drains this ditch behind 207 Shadowbrook LN and that seemed to correct a previous chronic problem with water backing up in the ditch, even with some heavy rainfall. This morning, May 28, 2021, standing water had again backed up in the ditch. The photo was taken about 8:15 AM after the rain had stopped for the day. About 2 hours later the water had gone down about a foot and had completely drained out by around 1:00 PM. This is again indicative of a blockage somewhere along the pipe which takes water from the ditch. The pipe is entirely within Huntsville City limits and empties into a ditch on the city limit. The blockage cannot be seen from the mouth of the pipe. See issue 7955964 from June, 2020 for previous report.

The pipe at the end of the ditch behind the house has a blockage some distance down the pipe which can't be seen from the mouth of the pipe, and standing water fills the ditch when it rains. This photo, showing standing water in the ditch was taken about an hour after the rain stopped on the morning of 5 June 2020. About 2.5 hours later the water level had gone down about 10 inches to partially uncover the mouth of the pipe. No visible indication of water flow into the pipe was evident. This has been a chronic issue that has been reported before. The entire length of the pipe is in the city limits. Finding the blockage may require sending a camera into the pipe.

Reference archived report #5947338. More than a year ago, Huntsville Utilities repaired a water leak on the street side of the meter and left an orange cone to mark the spot. The repair was successful but Huntsville Utilities never came back for their cone. It is in the way if on the side walk and interferes with mowing/trimming if on the grass. Please send someone to pick up the cone. Thanks.

This photo taken of standing water in the ditch 1-2 hours after the rain stopped from storms that passed through this afternoon. The drain pipe at the end of the concrete ditch is at least partially plugged at some point along its length. There was still standing water about 3 hours later. (Approximate location of mouth of pipe is indicated.) The mouth of the pipe was actually open and clear before the rain so the blockage must be further down inside the pipe. The pipe empties below into a ditch which starts at the city limit so better than 90% of the length of the pipe is in the city limits.

This is a follow-on for report "Water Leaks (5582146)" which Huntsville Utilities closed on or about March 28. They did come out and dig up the spot although it appears that there is still a slow leak in the same spot on the street side of the two meters. There's standing surface water in small puddles near the north meter even after several days of no rain. The ground below the spot is soft and squishy. Other areas somewhat away from the area are more or less dry and firm. The small puddles may be breeding mosquitoes.

There's water on the surface even though there hasn't been any rain for several days. This area usually dries quickly after a rain. The wet area is between the sidewalk and the two meters. There are a few little puddles. The ground is soft.

This photo taken of standing water in the ditch after a moderate rain this morning. The drain pipe at the end of the concrete ditch is still partially plugged and drains slowly after the rain stops. There is little evidence of water flow such as turbulence along the ditch and near the mouth of the pipe. The mouth of the pipe was actually open and clear before the rain so the blockage must be further down inside the pipe, likely on the county side near where it empties into a ditch. This has been a chronic problem for a long time and has been reported before. A water jet may be needed to clear the pipe.

The pipe at the end of the ditch behind 207 Shadowbrook is at least partially plugged at some point along its length and water is standing in the ditch and adjacent yard after this morning's rain. There's no perceptible flow in the ditch. The water level has only dropped about 2 inches in the 50 minutes since the photo was taken even though the rain let up more than an 1-1/2 hours ago. The rain was only a moderate rate.

The ditch behind 207 Shadowbrook needs to be cleaned of leaves and dirt that have washed down, which are partially blocking the exit pipe at the end of it. This is a regular issue every year in the fall and should be placed on a regular schedule in late November or December.

Drainage pipe may be partially plugged inside. The ditch fills up with standing water at moderate rain rate instead of handling the flow. It used to handle the flow even with moderately rain rates. Photo taken today at 7:00 AM after several hours of only moderate rain. The rain had mostly let up by this time.

The pipe at the end of the drainage ditch is partially plugged downstream. The ditch backs up with just moderate rains, but used to only back up with heavy rain. Water in photo is nearly standing rather than flowing.

The ditch at the back of the property needs the leaves cleaned out of it. The leaves collect every year in the Fall and clog the ditch and pipe.

Concrete ditch at back of property needs cleaning. Outlet pipe almost plugged up last heavy rain and ditch backed up. I've tried to keep the pipe clear of branches, but they still float down from upstream and then leaves catch on them..
