  • 2160-2198 King Street San Luis Obispo, California - San Luis Obispo
We just moved to SLO and we find ourselves wondering "Why are there so few crosswalks painted on intersections outside the city center?" Specifically, my wife has to cross South Street at King Street every morning to catch the bus to work. I cross the same intersection while walking our dogs to Meadow Park. Due to the high vehicle speed allowed on South, this is a hazardous endeavor. At a minimum there need to be 1) crosswalk markings across South at King at 2) signage informing drivers that pedestrian may be present and crossing.

Embarcadero West At Martin Luther King Oakland, California - Old City-Produce And Waterfront
Embarcadero West between MLK and Clay street is not clearly marked as one-way. While cycling, I've encountered several drivers of vehicles northwest bound on Embarcadero West who mistakenly believe the road is two-way. Since there is no stop sign at the intersection at MLK, vehicle who are northwest bound have nearly hit me at that intersection as I turned left off off southbound MLK onto southeast bound Embarcadero. There also need to be signs at Clay Street and Jefferson Street to indicate to drivers that the Embarcadero is one way in the southeast bound direction.
