87-99 Arlington Road Woburn, Massachusetts - Woburn
Apologies for the length of this request...
Please, please, please put at least one trash barrel along Arlington Road next to Horn Pond, ideally near the location indicated on the map (so it's after all the planters when walking around the pond counter-clockwise).
Dog owners put their dog-excrement bags in the planters there because there are no trash barrels. When WREN comes along on Saturday, we clean the trash out of the planters, but then we have to carry the excrement three blocks to get to the nearest barrel at the boat ramp near Ice House Park. I was carrying 5 heavy bags (3 of dog excrement bags) last week. And the older woman with me was carrying several as well.
There seem to be at least 3 extra barrels around the pond: There are two where there only needs to be one at the kiosk after you cross the small bridge from Ice House Park. There are two extra ones, that seem almost entirely unused, on the back side near the lion statue in Lions Park.
I realize that hooligans occasionally (about once per year) pushed the trash barrels into Horn Pond when they were provided along Arlington Road. However, that was a rare occurrence in comparison to dog owners leaving excrement bags in the planters (every day). And in the location indicated, it would be more difficult to get the barrel from the sidewalk into the pond.
Or you could put a trash barrel near the parking lot in front of the Clapp School.
Alternatively, put some kind of plastic plants in the planters until real plants can be planted, or some kind of lid, so that dog owners can't put their trash in the planters. Or put signs on the planters saying, "This is not a trash barrel."
Thank you.
