  • Pothole Acknowledged
805 Fairview Ave S St Paul, MN 55116, USA - Highland
Large potholes near the intersection of Fairview and Hilcrest. Drivers are swerving around these potholes causing the roads to be very unsafe for drivers and pedestrians. These large potholes are also causing damage to vehicles.

Highland Park neighbors would like the city of Saint Paul to help clean up Fountain Park. Fountain Park was donated to the public in 1886, it is a half-acre, triangular plot of land northeast of Highland Park and it could be a great place for kids to play, neighbors to garden and socialize. We need the city's help in trimming shrubbery and trees and cleaning up debris. We also noticed that this land is being used to dump yard waste (i.e. leaves and sod) from unknown source. We have assembled a small volunteer crew and we may need to borrow equipment to help take care of this public space.

St. Paul Park Security Truck #2225 was observed speeding in a residential neighborhood. Park Security Truck #2225 (male driver) was traveling at an unsafe speed in a 30 MPH zone between Scheffer and Randolph on Lexington Parkway at 4:42 pm Saturday the 27th of September. Several neighbors witnessed the Park Security vehicle speeding and would like the appropriate people to communicate to Park employees to follow the law in our neighborhood. I will also share this with the Western and Central District and my neighborhood action committee.
  • Tree Issues Archived
559 Lexington Parkway S Saint Paul, Minnesota - Highland
3 years ago when we purchased our home, we were instructed by our Realtor, Nancy Maas, to report a safety concern regarding a very large dead city tree on our property. We informed the city and Excel at that time that we worried the dead tree could cause significant damage to our property and power line. On August 1, half of that tree fell on our property. It crushed our fence and made a huge mess in our lawn. It ripped the power lines from 2 houses. The other half of the tree is still there and presents a serious safety issue and has the potential to cause more damage. We informed the city and Excel of the problem and they did nothing. We expect the city to take care of this mess.
  • 500 Block Of Lexington Parkway S Saint Paul, Minnesota - Highland
The excessive speeds, lack of sidewalks and crosswalks continues to be problem in this area. First, the posted speed limit is 30 mph, but most motorists travel at speeds of 40-50 mph. I have personally observed a lot of reckless and inattentive driving here and we have been having some new issues with street racing lately. Second, the lack of sidewalks and crosswalks poses a significant safety concern for pedestrians in this area. Being a pedestrian here is often terrifying and sometimes impossible. My five year old daughter should not have to fear for her life crossing the street to ride her bike on the only available sidewalk. Third, we need bike lanes or sharrows to improve the safety of our community. We need a traffic calming plan in place since there are a lot of children in this neighborhood. Our community needs Public Works to apply the appropriate traffic-calming measures. We need bike lanes, sidewalks, crosswalks, and enforcement of speeding laws to keep our community members safe.

I would like the city of St. Paul to reach into their traffic calming toolbox and come up with some ideas to improve the conditions for non-motorized street users on Lexington Parkway South. This street is being used as a dangerous speedway for commuters and delivery drivers and is producing undesirable conditions for people who walk and ride bikes in the area everyday. The lack of sidewalks and pedestrian crosswalks in this area is also really appalling. I live on a block that does not have a sidewalk, so my options are to walk across other lawns or in the street. The snow banks in the winter complicate matters. I also have elementary age school children and the lack of sidewalks is really unsafe for us when we are walking to the school bus stop during the week. Crossing the parkway to get to the park can get pretty hairy too. I don't want to play Frogger with traffic and my kids everyday. I am pleading with the city to intervene like they have on so many busy streets in affluent neighborhoods (i.e Jefferson and Fairview). We need really need sidewalks, pedestrian crosswalks, and dynamic speed signs to make this area safe. Please help improve the quality of life for our community members. Thank you.
  • Lexington Parkway S-Scheffer Ave Saint Paul, Minnesota - Highland
I would like to request a traffic calming plan on Lexington Parkway S between Randolph and Montreal. There is absolutely no reason to be going 45-50 MPH down our street. I am certainly willing to start a petition and have my neighbors sign. I have asked the city for signs to deter speeding in the past. I am concerned for the safety of my children, neighbors, and animals. This has really become a speedway for commuters and busy delivery men and I have witnessed many reckless accidents in the area as a result. Please do something about this. Also the road is closed between Scheffer and Montreal until July and we have a lot of knuckle heads ignoring the signs that clearly indicate local access only.
  • 103-123 North Lexington Parkway Saint Paul, Minnesota - Merriam Park
Please fix the potholes and pick up the bricks from the historic crosswalk that are strewn all about the parkway. It looks like a toddler built our roads while playing minecraft.
