Dangerous speeding is constant along N Harrison St from the traffic light at Franklin until past the light at Hamilton. Drivers start at 5 am commuting to their jobs by cutting through town on Harrison, going very fast although it is a 25 mph zone. Coming from Nassau St, if drivers see the Hamilton light green, they speed up to get through it and then if they see the Franklin light green, they speed up even more to make it through that before it changes. Coming from the shopping center (Franklin), people leave a 35 mph speed zone and resist slowing to 25 mph when the lanes go from four to two, and again they speed up when they see light green straight ahead at Hamilton. They go faster, not slower, around the lights at both Hamilton and Franklin. This is a very dangerous 2-block section with lots of pedestrians. Even though its a 25 mph street, I've seen animals mowed down by speeders, and seen speeders streak around children who strayed into the middle of the street by accident.

In my opinion, drivers will never slow down to 25 mph on this stretch of road unless the town implements traffic calming, maybe in the form of planters or middle verges or even buzz strips (the street is wide enough). The bicycle sharrows acted as somewhat calming but they have faded off and were not repainted. A shame, as that is a relatively cheap solution.

I've spoken to police about traffic calming in the past. Officer Murray was quite dismissive of the need for calming in this section; he had adamant objections to every suggestion I made. So I am bringing this up again, after years of observation. I live along this stretch of road. Sooner or later, the incessant daily speeding will result in a death.

Holly bushes at mailbox and library book drop in shopping center grown out over drops so cannot pull car up to them, and cannot even see them really until you walk up to them. Bushes need trimming back.

Also, these are on the WRONG side of road; driver must get into wrong lane to use these drops.

Curb has been broken and destroyed, and large broken are lying out in street, other parts missing. For about 40' along the apartment building on N Harrison near Hamilton (SE corner). The entire section of curb needs to be rebuilt, or severe erosion will happen in heavy rains. IN the meantime, cars could hit the parts lying in the street.
