Mon-Fri, 8:15 to 8:30, traffic hazard because turning lane is needed for turn on Harvard for Huntsville High School traffic. People also try to turn into McDonalds or other areas on that side of the road, which causes backups in the regular lanes instead of turning lanes. Suggest closing off turn option (with cones?) to McDonalds, etc. for the short time needed for high school traffic to die down.

The city of Huntsville's Water Pollution Control Department is addressing this issue (http://www.hsvcity.com/wpc/FOG.php), there is a recycling effort that could be implemented, in tandem with the Public Works Department--fueling the city's fleet with recycled biofuels. Many cities across the country are doing this. Here is San Francisco's web site about their program: http://sfwater.org/msc_main.cfm/MC_ID/17/MSC_ID/401

Proration is killing us, we know, but some schools in Huntsville are over crowded and some are barely filling the rooms. Huntsville High School is overcrowded, and a high school over the mountain could relieve some of that. Ramping up Hampton Cove Elementary into a full K-12 would be a great start.

Oakwood Avenue between 565 and Jordan Lane carries foot and bike traffic; however, there is no safe place for these people to be. I don't know how many times I've been fearful of hitting someone. These are people who NEED to walk or bike for their livelihoods. A sidewalk and bike path would make this street safer for everyone. While I'm at it, North Huntsville in general needs sidewalks, bike paths, and safe green spaces. Residents here actually walk and bike as part of their daily lives rather than for pleasure or exercise.

The Big Cove/Hampton Cove area is expanding rapidly, but much of it consists of large chain restaurants and businesses. I would prefer to see the area be a magnet for local businesses. Perhaps some incentive for those businesses to move to this area would ensure such a flourishing environment.

Now that there is so much housing development on Dug Hill Road, this area has become dangerous. There was an accident in 2010 that resulted, briefly, in the spot being monitored by the police. Traffic speeds down the hill, not purposely, I believe. They are just going downhill, and not paying attention. And traffic going up the hill is gathering speed to make it over the mountain.
