There is a blind person living at 70 Fairmont Avenue, the Fairmont Heights Apartments. He often crosses the street alone and has difficulty finding the sidewalks. Cars zoom up this street at a very high speed. I am concerned that he will get hit. Is there any way to slow down the traffic, ie. a speed bump or at least a Blind Person warning sign?
In addition cars often come down the wrong way to go into the apartment parking lot. He does not seem to be aware of this and is only listening for traffic coming the proper way. The building at the intersection of Farren and Fairmont used to be a bar and was going to be a restaurant. The cars cut through this parking lot and come down the street. Years ago the owner had curbs to eliminate this, but they have been removed and cars from Fairmont cut through to Farren and cars from Farren cut through and go down the wrong way on Fairmont. Is there any way you can eliminate this to protect not only the blind person, but the rest of us on this end of Fairmont?

    Thank you!

Sidewalk sunken in front of Fairmont Heights Apartments. Some handicapped and at least one blind person walk over this hazzard.

    Please repair.

    Thank you,

The trash crew did a terrible job this morning. I picked up trash on the street before they came and after their visit there was a large amount of trash left on the street. They also left my bin upside down with the lid open and I saw others on the street left on their sides. Please send a street sweeper to follow this truck next time to pick up all the garbage they leave in their wake. Thank you.

Storm Drain in front of 72 Fairmont Avenue is clogged. B&W company is doing site work there and apparently did not keep the runoff of dirt from clogging the drain.
Roto-Rooter or some such company was there yesterday cleaning a drain in the parking lot. I don't know if this had anything to do with the clogged storm drain.

Oakley St & Frontage Rd East Haven, Connecticut, 06512 - Annex
The Yield sign where Oakley Street merges onto Frontage Road is missing. Cars turning onto Frontage Road from Oakley sometimes don't even look if another vehicle is coming.

The walk signal comes on automatically at every light change. A large waste of time and gas when no one is there to walk. Please repair or reprogram.

Fire hydrant across from 72 Fairmont Heights Housing Authority property is leaking intermittently. A small stream of water dripping out of the connection facing Fairmont Avenue every few minutes. Please shut off hydrant.

    Thank you.

For the past few weeks, the street is littered with trash after the sanitation crew empties the trash bins. I try to keep the street clean by picking up litter each morning and it would be helpful if someone can train this apparently new guy, how to properly get the trash into the truck instead on on the street. Thank you!
  • Quinnipiac Ave & Hemingway St New Haven, CT, 06513, USA - Fair Haven Heights
The corner at Quinnipiac and Hemingway has been painted and posts installed and Hemingway is now only 1.5 lanes wide at this corner. If a car is exiting Hemingway and is not pulled over tight to the right curb, a van or emergency vehicle does not have room to make a right hand turn from Quinnipiac. Has the painting and post installation been authorized by the Traffic Division?

The walk signals on Forbes and Townsend, Forbes and Woodward and Woodward an Main Street activate automatically. I assume this was for the COVID fears, but now that the peak is over, and I almost never see a pedestrian at these corners, please put the signals back to button control. It really slows down the traffic. It takes 10-15 minutes to drive 1/2 mile from my house in a east or south direction.

Most afternoon/evenings there are some dirt bikes and atvs that race around the end of Fulton and Stiles Streets near the terminals and sewage treatment plant. I can hear the roar and scream of these vehicles a half mile away and it is unbearable outside. I have called the police, to no avail. Can someone out there address this problem which has been on-going for several years during the warm months?

The street sign at the intersection of Farren, Fairmont and Chamberlain is wrong. See 'incorrect' photo. It indicates that Townsend Avenue starts at this intersection, but Fairmont continues about 500 feet South until the intersection of Fairmont, Quinnipiac, Woodward and Townsend at the small park.
People have asked me for directions to the lower Fairmont Avenue house numbers (30-5) being confused by this sign.

I walk East Shore Park several times per week. Often people are driving motorized vehicles on the paths although these vehicles are not allowed. I saw two on May 29th and three on May 30th. The drivers often whip by the walkers at a high rate of speed. Kindly enforce the no motorized vehicles rule.
    Thank you.
