Cameron Corner Ellwood Avenue Richmond, Virginia - Mary Munford

    To whom it may concern,

I am writing to you since I feel that this ongoing patch of the potholes is little more than a temporary fix and more importantly a wast of money and time.
I live right at this corner and have a pretty good grasp on this situation.
I will just go back to last year and not further to demonstrate the poor dealings with this issue.. I realize the city has a budged in which work has to be fit but my believe is a job done right once, even if it is more expensive that one time is cheaper in the long run.
April 5th 2016 had the several potholes on the corner Cameron Street and Ellwood Ave been patched up at least twice that year, this followed by another patch of the same holes on May 12th after they reoccurred not even 3 weeks after the April patch. Which then continued into the early 2017th with up to now its second patch on Jan 24th while the holes stood full of water. The potholes get so deep that regularly the police has to "guard" the holes so nobody drives through them.
Is that a proper use of the police resource?!
Right now, March 16th we have over 10 patched or newly reopened potholes on this stretch! One being again about a foot deep. The remaining surface is already cracking and just waiting to brake loose. This is an exit of 95 which is used by delivery trucks for the Carrytown supermarkets. With this heavy use it is just a question of when, not if the rest of the road will end up in my front yard.
The asphalt shrapnel is a danger to pedestrians who walk along this road on the sidewalk. The impression visitors for the Richmond University get is that Richmond doesn't care for its roads and maybe not about its citizens?
What is worse is that I have seen street repairs done well in town, probably I don't live in the "right" neighborhood for this though.
The rest of the neighborhood streets are in similarc ondition but at least aren't driven by heavy trucks, but I am shocked about the conditions of the roads all over. I travel quite a bit and I have to say Richmonds road upkeep does nothing to advertise the beautiful city we live in.

  • Boulevard Corner Idlewood Richmond, Virginia - Carytown
Driving from S Boulevard into Idelwood their is a huge and deep pothole right in the corner. This is quite dangerous since in order to avoid it one has to get in the next lane but because it is in the corner it isn't easily seen hence double dangerous. It is so deep that I feel my tires would be punctured if driving trough it.
  • 3703 Ellwood Ave Richmond, Virginia - Mary Munford
The alley behind the 3703 block of Ellwood Avenue is in dire need of regraveling. The potholes are growing in depth every time someone drives across y are at the deepest probably 1/2 a foot deep by now. I have seen other alleys being regravled so it is beeing done.
  • 3703 Ellwood Avenue Richmond, Virginia - Mary Munford
There is a large amount of cut brush in the Alley behind 3703 Ellwood Avenue on the empty lot next to 3704 West Cary Street. Please pick up.
  • 3703 Ellwood Avenue Richmond, Virginia - Mary Munford
The Alley between Carry and Ellwood has dangerously deep potholes. The alley starts at Hamilton and ends at Cameron. Please resurface the gravel.

This pothole has been inadequately patched up on the 12 the of May. This was, by my count already the 3rd time it was "repaired" within the last 9 month. Each time not lasting longer than 3 month, but usually shorter. I would highly suggest not to wast more money on patching it up the 4th time within 1 year but to actually apply some engineering and repair it right. Thank you!

These group of Potholes have been repaired at least twice over the last few month. Now there is a new Pothole in the road that is about 1/2 foot deep and growing by the day. Since the area has been fixed several times already without showing lasting success it seems that just filling the hole up is not a lasting way to repair this. May I suggest that you seek out an alternative processes for a longer lasting result.
