    Friends, at least two rats were spotted last night, around the construction port-a-potties on Spring St at the corner with Lopez Ave. Sighted about 7pm.

    Friends, there's a strong dead-animal smell in the Costa Lopez Taylor Community Garden, around the Garden's NW corner by the gate to Lopez Avenue. I'm assuming it's a rat, since there are traps in the Garden, and poison-traps in our own backyard.

    I've looked around this part of the Garden, as well as our own property, but can't find a corpse.

    Are the Garden's rat traps spring traps? If they are, well, you got one!

    Would love to have this checked out by somebody with the trap keys.

    Friends, a pink moped (best way I can describe it, sorry!) has been parked in the playground area of the Costa Lopez Taylor Park, since yesterday afternoon. It's sitting there, unchained.

    Because the park has been a place where, from time to time, stolen bikes have been ditched, I thought I would bring this to the City's attention. Thanks!

    Friends, at around 10:30 this morning I noticed a rat inside the City's trash can, beside the West side of the Costa Lopez basketball court. Kicked the can a couple times, and got a hiss-y screech for my trouble. ;-)

    Friends, I spotted a large rat last night in the Costa Lopez Taylor Community Garden. It was in the NW corner, up against the chain link fence separating the Garden from our (yellow) house at 42 Lopez. Of all things, the rat was right next to one of the Ehrlich Rat Control black boxes that the City had set out last year.

    Seems like the poison in those boxes needs to be renewed! :-o

    Two dead rats have been found in the Community Garden over the last months, as well as another live sighting about 2 weeks ago. So, we have a problem!

    Hi friends -- There's a motorcycle parked at the South end of Lopez AVENUE (E. Cambridge) that's been there since the late Summer. The owner comes along once a month and moves it before Street Cleaning. I've spoken with the owner about it, and told him that he can't permanently park a vehicle; I did that months ago.

    Our concern is that his motorcycle makes it impossible for three cars to park in the allowed parking along the street; without it there, three cars park with no problem. Parking is so tough in East Cambridge now, it seems like a waste of a useful space.

    A raccoon (the size of a mid-sized dog) was spotted at 5am, today, at the corner of Hurley St. and Lopez Ave. A neighbour (at 22 Hurley) mentioned that someone in his building was bit by a raccoon very recently. Thank you for looking after this. Steve Behrends and Tamar Granovsky

    Friends, the "Fire Lane No Parking" sign on the last block of Lopez Avenue has broken off at the base, an is lying by the sidewalk. I think it came down in the wind last week. Prior to the storm, however, the sign had gotten bent, at the base, and was tilted.

    Hi friends -- The sidewalk on Charles Street in front of the Costa Lopez Community Garden has not been cleared by the City. It's the stretch of sidewalk along Charles Street, North side, bounded by the Park pathway (to the West) and the driveway of the next private residence (to the East).

    Lopez/Taylor Community Garden Cambridge, Massachusetts - East Cambridge
    Hi Friends -- We abut the Lopez/Taylor Community Garden (my wife is the Garden Coordinator there). We have a problem with the garden pole-lamp. Since it was switched over to LED, it's been shining very brightly through our bedroom window (even with our shades down), making it a little hard to get a good night's sleep. The old non-LED bulb was hidden by the lamp's shade; the new LED bulb actually extends below the shade. Could we request that either the bulb's light be turned down, or that a deeper/lower shade be installed?
