  • Ober St & Purchase St Salem, MA, 01970, USA - City of Salem
Family has resided at this location Ober & Purchase St for almost 100 years. there has never been a sidewalk on the purchase St. side. Multi[le requests have been made and all ignored or denied by the city. the street has been repaved and other sidewalks have been replaced on the rest of the street as well as intersecting streets but not this one. 2+ years ago the city removed a city planted tree from this location and the 2-3 foot stump is still there and is a walking hazard . Estimated City property Tax payments for the three generations of residents at this location exceeds $400,000.00 do you think it would be possible to get a sidewalk at this location? When I contacted the office, the response I received from the person on the phone was "do you know how many sidewalks I am responsible for" If the job is to difficult maybe they need to find a new job. This is a safety hazard as well as a parking issue, my wife and I are in our 70's and cannot walk on the non-sidewalk without risking a serious fall.
