The timing of the lights on Hammond Dr between Peachtree Dunwoody and Glenridge are horribly timed. Even on weekends and at night you almost always have to stop at 3 or more lights in a short stretch. This causes excess delays.

  • 30 Abernathy Rd Nw Sandy Springs, Georgia - Sandy Springs
In the morning hours (7-9) the light at Johnson ferry, Abernathy, and Brandon mill needs a timing adjustment. The light stays green for an extended period of time (similar to the PM rush hour) for cars turning left from Johnson Ferry Road onto Johnson Ferry (cars are heading NW towards Cobb county). During this time very few cars pass through and then cars on Brandon Mill (heading south) have to wait while no cars come and are then given a very short light to cross (going straight onto Johnson Ferry). Normally fewer than 7 cars can make it through, causing backups onto Brandon Mill which block the right turn and left turn lanes. A simple thing update to the AM traffic program would help clear Brandon Mill with no real impact on the other roads.
  • 158-200 Johnson Ferry Rd Ne Sandy Springs, Georgia - Sandy Springs
There has been metal plates across Johnson Ferry for months with no noticeable work. It causes traffic issues as people slam on the brakes, causing congestion.
  • 1278 Windsor Pkwy Ne Atlanta, Georgia - Brookhaven

Let me state the obvious Windsor Parkway is a nightmare. It has no real traffic control (traffic lights, roundabouts, etc.) It is undersized and over developed.

The north side of Peachtree (Osborne, Mabry, Lynwood) has limited access and is still being developed (Town Brookhaven, Oglethorpe) but nothing has been done to this vital entry/exit point.

At a minimum a real traffic light needs to be placed at Osborne and possible Mabry or Hermance to allow for better traffic flow at peak hours. At Peachtree Dunwoody, an additional right hand turn lane should be added to help morning traffic flow towards Perimeter, 285 and 400.

A main limiting factor to home value (and therefore city income) is congestion in this area. If nothing is done the city cannot thrive as planned. I am open to community discussion as this impacts a large number of people, but we need to make this crucial part of our city more easily accessible and less of an island.
