As you can see from the picture, Cottage Street is still in dire need of resurfacing. Even though the street crew came by earlier today to do some patchwork, huge areas in the street were left with the blacktop gone and the gravel underneath exposed. No only is it a major eyesore, but it’s creating dangerous conditions for people and dogs walking down the street as they’re likely to get hit by stones dispersed by passing cars. Also, the neighborhood children still can’t roller-skate, skateboard, scooter or use their bicycles safely while the street is left in such terrible condition.
Every time you come out to patch the road it’s like you're trying to fix a break in a dam with a piece of gum.
I realize you said that this issue is now being referred to the engineer department, but as my neighbors and I have repeatedly asked for Cottage Street to be fixed over the last seven years, which is as long as my family’s lived here, I would very much appreciate it if the City of Portland could put this issue at the top of the list of priorities.
    Thank you.

As you can see from the picture, Cottage Street is in dire need of resurfacing. There are huge parts of the street where the blacktop has deteriorated so much that the gravel underneath is visible and being spread around. No only is it a major eyesore, but it’s creating dangerous conditions for people and dogs walking down the street as they’re likely to get hit by stones dispersed by passing cars. Also, the neighborhood children can’t roller-skate, skateboard, scooter or use their bicycles safely as the street is in such terrible condition.
My neighbors and I have repeatedly asked for Cottage Street to be fixed, but every time the road surface has been repaired, it’s akin to putting a small bandaid on a gaping wound.
I have referred to this issue for the last seven years, which is as long as my family’s lived here, so I would very much appreciate it if the City of Portland could put this issue at the top of the list of priorities.
