  • 3054 Lee Place Bellmore, NY - Bellmore
Lee Place runs for a while between Karen and the next stop sign at Ricky street. Many motorists not only don't come to a complete stop at either Stop sign, but exceed the posted 30 mph speed limit by 10-15 mph along that stretch of Lee Place. The street is unsafe for our children and even adults, not to mention the traffic noise that's created at higher speeds. A good solution would be speed humps. According to sources, humps will reduce 85 percentile speeds by 8-10 mph. A warning sign notifies motorists before humps. They are used on residential roads where lower speeds are desired and reasonable.
Keep in mind, almost the entire peninsula is dotted with Stop signs that keep speeds down, but because there is no intersecting street along this stretch, motorists take advantage and speed down to or up from the bottom of the peninsula in order to reach Merrick Road faster..
