10 days ago, this box was put on top of recycling bins for pick up. It wasn't picked up—understandably—and has been on the sidewalk ever since. Now there is garbage strewn across the lawn, sidewalk also, and trash bags and garbage are overflowing. We live two houses away and have trash all over our yard, blowing down from this property. Please give them citations for the way they're handling—or not handling—their garbage and recycling. It's a neighborhood nuisance. Thank you for your help!

HI: I'm having to write again. After a reprieve of a few weeks, waste management is once again collecting trash well before the 7am start time allowed by the noise ordinance. Last week (Nov 20) it was 5:43 am. This morning it was 6:45am. What do we need to do to make this stop and get the ordinance enforced? Thank you for your help.

Hi. I am writing, once again, about a ticket that has been prematurely closed. This is about garbage being picked up before 7am—against city noise ordinances—from the fraternities on Geddes Avenue. While it appears that the contractor followed the ordinance for a week or so, I was once again woken up by the sound of smashing steel dumpsters and the reverse alarm on the dumpster truck at 6:24 AM on Friday, October 13. I called the police—again—as you have advised. But really, what do you expect the police to do? By the time the call is even placed the dumpster truck has moved on. But the damage has been done. I have already complained that this has been going on for your years. I do not understand why the city will not enforce our noise ordinance. Please respond—not by closing the ticket—but by telling me what A2FixIt is actually doing to address this issue. I am happy to speak with someone on the phone. I am not alone in being disturbed by this. Others, too, have written in. What more are we to do? What will it take to enforce the ordinance? Are tickets being issued to this company? If so, can you please provide us residents with evidence of this. Indeed, can you provide evidence that anything has been done about this complaint other than closing the ticket? If my frustration seems palpable, it's because it is because I am extremely dismayed. I can call the police at every infraction as you have requested. But how does this SOLVE the problem. I would like concrete action before the fact, not complaints from residents after, which seem to have no effect in any case. This is really an appeal to A2FixIt. I have said it before, but I will reiterate that this effects our quality of life because it effects the quality of our sleep. Thank you for addressing this issue once and for all. I'll look forward to hearing back from you.

There's a dead rabbit in the middle of the road on Oswego, in front of 518 Oswego. I tried calling the number given for dead animals, but there was no answer.

Hi: I reported this issue last week and the ticket was closed—prematurely. I was woken today at 6:36am by the sound of a dumpster smashing to the ground by waste removal. This is a private company that is contracted by the city to do waste removal at 1932 Geddes, other group houses on Geddes, and the facilities on Oxford. They DO NOT respect the noise ordinance, and begin sometimes as early as 5:40am (according to a report by a neighbor on this site last week). Given that I complained about this in advance, please provide evidence that you are issuing tickets for breaking the noise ordinance. I have said it before: this is more than a minor nuisance. This is about quality of life. The noise ordinance is there for a reason. It should be respected. And if not respected, then the city should enforce it. Feel free to set up a phone call with me about the issue. The waste removal before 7am—and the crashing sound of steel dumpsters that rings through the neighborhood—has to stop.

Waste management clears the garbage from this and other facilities in the area every Monday morning. They ignore the noise ordinances and begin well before 7. Usually closer to 6am. Their banging of the trash dumpster wakes the whole neighborhood. We have spoken to the drivers themselves who say the city knows they are ignoring the ordinance and don't care. This is a week in, week out issue. PLEASE address it. What is the point of our noise ordinaces if they're not being enforced? And why do I have to be disturbed early every Monday morning, being woken by the sound of banging trash dumpsters at this address and on Oxford. The city apparently hires these waste management folks. Please enforce our laws at the same time. This is a tiresome issue that has been going on for years.
