Description
Hello,
I had created a suggestion some months ago regarding traffic calming on Park Ave, hopefully with speed bumps at regular intervals with spaces in between for bicycles, very much like on Bayview Dr.
Since the repaving circa a year ago, many cars like to test their 0-60mph acceleration on the wide, smooth road of Park Ave. Many do so late at night as well. As I mentioned previously, I witnessed a jerk swerving around 2 bicyclists, honking and going at least 45 mph on a residential road, which was what prompted my last suggestion. I've witnessed several instances of like behavior since then. Kids frequently bike around on the road. Since the traffic lane closures on Park St for outdoor dining, many have also taken Park Ave as a faster detour.
Today, while biking back to my apartment, a lady in a Subaru apparently eager to get to Safeway or God knows where, nearly t-boned me as I was preparing to make a left turn into my driveway. She had tried to get around me and would have hit me if I hadn't done an over-the-shoulder check and left turn hand signal. Getting around a cyclist is lawful. Doing it at ~45 mph on a residential street is dangerous, idiotic and probably unlawful.
Please heed my suggestion before someone gets hit and killed. THanks
