Description
Chadwell Road is used as a cut through from Airport Rd to the Whitesburg schools. While we do have some speed bumps, we need another set place in the 6700-6800 block. We have many children who walk to school through the neighborhood and this stretch of Chadwell is not safe. Thanks.

A speed and volume study was conducted at 2 locations over a 72-hour period during the week of 1/25/16. Locations were midway between Bellingrath Dr and the curve west of Drummond Rd and midway between the same curve and the All-Way Stop at Sanders Rd. The data at both locations indicated volumes were less than 400 vehicles per day and 85th percentile speeds were generally 30-31 mph in each direction. To be eligible for traffic calming measures, a street must have at least 500 vehicles per day and 85th percentile speeds in both directions of travel greater than or equal to 35 mph in both directions.
Traffic Engineering does not recommend the installation of additional speed cushions in this area.
Thank you for contacting the City of Huntsville with your concerns.
